People complain about how dysfunctional politics is in the US. Is the cause “gridlock” as is so commonly suggested? Or something else?
A commenter was discussing how he enjoyed the rise of Trump.

I’m just enjoying all the pearl-clutching on all sides. The GOP deserves it for ignoring the Tea Party and bowing to Obama for years.
And that got me to thinking. Below are my replies.
The theory of the “professionals” was to run on issues and NEVER resolve them so they can run on them again in 2 or 4 years.
This is especially notable on the Bern side. All the anti-Prohibition guys who thought the issue resolved what with 58% popular support and a Dem President who could reschedule. And yet the issue is unresolved.
The political class is just in it for the money. Trump on the R side is also a response to that. Planned Parenthood OK? His support did not drop off as the “professionals” expected.
To the “pros” it is all a game. They don’t have to develop anything new if they can keep running the same election play list. Every damn time. The pro’s council is “don’t solve problems”. Government is not dysfunctional because of grid lock. It is that way because it has been profitable for the guys running the show.
Trump’s “I will make deals” is another expression of the situation.
Another commenter had this to say.

The gopers cause this mess when they were givin the house and the senate and they chose to fill their own pockets with lobbyist money instead of doing what the people sent them to do.
The theme of this election is, “the government does not represent the people“.
How about this headline: Newt Gingrich: If Trump Wins Big in Florida, They Won’t Be Able to Stop Him
I’d say that is about right. The “they” Newt refers to? The eGOP. e = establishment
I did a post on what the eGOP is thinking – in their own words. You might find it amusing.

I’m convinced that the “GOPe” doesn’t want to stop Trump. They prefer him over Cruz. They continue to fund the Kasich campaign simply to peel off Cruz votes.
Bram,
Neal Bush is backing Cruz.
“After the uprising of the [Republican primary]
The Secretary of the [Republican Party]
[went on TV]
Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government
And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts.
Would it not be easier
In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?”
-Bertolt Brecht [with a little update]
Gridlock is probably an improvement over either of the currently governing parties of thieves, idiots, whack jobs and scumbags accomplishing much.
The answer is “Neal Bush”
The question was “which of los bros Bush was involved in a sleazy savings and loan failure, a kinky sex scandal was the only one too dumb to keep his nose clean enough
to get elected, and was basically paid off to keep his mouth shut by the rest of the family?” If you can find a more worthless endorsement buy it.
Breaking news:
The stuff in my sink trap also endorses Cruz, pile of used rags still undecided.
[…] Ultimately, I think Hillary will have problems with him, because while he is a centrist who has been flinging red meat for the right, he won’t need to keep doing that. Unlike politicians, he is not beholden to any particular ideology. (Fortunately, Madame Clinton is not listening to M. Simon.) […]
