Learning How The Game Is Played

Over at The Conservative Tree House, which I rarely link to because I have been banned from commenting there, the marks are wising up. They have a post which reprises my thinking in How The Game Is Played, with some additions. So lets take a look at GOPe Playing Very Dangerous Game With Current Political Con – Party Leadership Recommending Avoid Ohio Convention….

The post begins with – the marks may be wising up.

Those who are professionally republican, the party insiders and those from Wall Street to K-Street who fund their legislative outcomes, the collective “establishment” – have manipulated a very large swath of the conservatively-minded electoral base. There’s going to be busloads of “grassroots” types, currently being used to do the party bidding, who are going to wake up and realize they’ve been played.

Most of those being hoodwinked are Ted Cruz ideologues. Rigid supporters who are blinded by very intense and narrow litmus test interests; and they have no idea their puritan intensity is being used against them.

Ah. Yes. The Guns (which I unequivocally support), God (Christian almost exclusively) and Abortion (they are against it totally) crowd.

And those folks (estimated by the poster as 10% to 15% of GOP voters) are being played by Ted Cruz.

When Senator Cruz is introduced at a rally by a guy proclaiming all gays should be put to death, the Cruz coalition sees no issue with it – because they essentially agree with it. They do not have the desire, nor the capacity, to accept these extremist views are so far away from ordinary Americans. They honestly and genuinely believe Senator Cruz can become President Cruz if he openly promised to kill all the gays.

They believe this with all their heart. Most are now Cruz delegates.

The poster goes on to discuss abortion. He does mention that most Americans are not on board with the fanatics. He fails to mention that most Americans are against abortion but do not want government controlling the issue. In other words most Americans are not socialists. Yipeee.

The Republican Party despises these people. Commonly called Social Conservatives or as I prefer Conservative Socialists. After all they can get their medical procedures done no matter what the law is. God? Who believes that silly stuff any way? Only morons. And guns? They are for the military, police, and personal guards. God forbid the populace should be able to defend themselves against predators. Be they animals, miscreants, or government.

The republican party leadership is using the elements within the party they despise, the whack-o-birds, to rid themselves of the risk presented by candidate Donald Trump – who they cannot control for their own legislative agenda.

In essence, the party itself has surrounded the most politically explosive danger with volatile fuel brought by the Cruz delegations. Senator Ted Cruz, the Bush-aligned party insider, is fully aware of what the party leadership is doing; it appears he’s enjoying a role he’s dreamed of his entire life.

The entire republican apparatus has to treat Cruz as the magnanimous, awe-inspiring savior of all things republican, in order to defeat Donald Trump. Cruz is relishing this role.

And now we are getting to the point I made in How The Game Is Played. What the Party really cares about.

The professionally republican care about MONEY. Money is derived from legislative policy not social issues. Social issues are used by the professionally republican to make ¹sheep ²push lever and ³get pellet, that’s it. Wash – Rinse – Repeat.

Trump threatens all that because he is killing their tropes (abortion is murder) and intends to solve problems instead of leaving them fester so they can be used for fund raising (political and otherwise) and vote gathering. Here is a clue. Who screamed the loudest when Trump said if abortion was illegal the woman should be punished (which does not sell well except among the fanatics). The anti-abortion groups.

Well Trump, elected or sidelined has killed a LOT of money and vote machines already.

I’d like to see him elected. But elected or not he can continue to wreck their industries with just a few words. I can’t wait until he gets a Drug Prohibition question. I’m sure that is off the table for now lest he wreck another industry with a few words.

Rush Limbaugh’s take reprinted over at Chicago Boyz [emphasis mine.]

But I’m sure that Trump looked at his massive lead in national polls, his massive lead in all these primaries that he’s won and has just assumed that the sheer power and force of that was gonna sweep him through 1,237 before we get to the convention. And that all this stuff that’s happening now was not even gonna be necessary because he was gonna win this outright. And it’s clear, and it has been clear for a while, the objective is to make sure he doesn’t. And in this the Cruz team and the GOP team are working as a united front against Trump.

Now, second ballot, if nobody gets 1,237, that’s where the GOP and Cruz forces will split apart, and Cruz will find out what it’s like to be Trump right now. That would be on the third ballot. Make no mistake, the Republican powers that be do not want Trump, and they don’t want Cruz. They did want Jeb. They wouldn’t mind Kasich. They are drooling over Paul Ryan. And they would take Romney again. So that’s the immediate universe of people that they might be thinking could be their salvation.

    CapitalistRoader,

Thanks for the link! Haven’t been there in a while.

That has been the estimate of the Trumpbots for a while.

    1. Denial and Isolation – September 2015
    2. Anger – Jan 2015
    4. Depression – Feb 2015
    3. Bargaining – About now
    5. Acceptance – About May

Deal making is going on now IMO. The Colorado uproar was strategic. If the “boys” want to keep what they can salvage they have to make a deal.

A brokered convention is out of the question.

I think I’ll turn this into a post.

Thanks for triggering my thought train.

  3. […] CapitalistRoader reminded me of some things that might not be well known around here. I’m a big Trump fan (could ya tell?) and have been hanging out mostly at Trumpbot sites for a while. I’m not quite to that level of crazy. Quite. […]

What if you think that neither gays nor fetuses should be put to death?
