That’s how a drag queen characterized the mayhem in Orlando’s Pulse club.
One bullet fired by a customer could have saved dozens of lives, yet despite Florida’s relatively liberal gun laws, no one in the place was armed.
This would not have happened in Israel. Here in the United States (and to an even greater extent in Europe), people act like helpless children. In Europe, even police act like deer caught in the headlights; witness the murderous knife attack in a police commander’s own home.
Apparently, the plan is for citizens to remain disarmed and helpless until it’s time to send in a SWAT team. And of course, we now know that it took hours for a SWAT team to arrive, because the son of a bitch knew how to game the system to his advantage. In a sane world, he’d have been shot dead by one of the bar patrons.
Helpless though the leadership may be, an armed citizenry need not remain helpless. We can and should fight back.
MORE: Shoot back!

I think you overgeneralize. I’m thinking that had he tried this at the gay bar in my hometown, deep in Gunrack Country, there may have been a very different outcome. Florida is not Texas, in many important ways.
Ditto. I imagine the frustrated Muslim closet case would have been quickly ventilated had he tried that in a Texas or Colorado gay bar. Ten dead vs. Florida’s 50, I’m guessing. While Florida has some pretty decent gun laws, one aspect sucks:
Score for Texas: Radical Presbyterian terrorist Mohammad Moghaddam now at room temperature. No other casualties.
I’m reminded of that old expression, “Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six!”
So you think the way to prevent this sort of thing from happening again is for bars and night clubs to allow people who are there to drink and get drunk as the night wears on to bring loaded guns with them. Hmmm. What could go wrong with that?
If ANYONE there had had a gun (including the owner, manager, or security guard), the terrorist could have been shot.
Please continue your thought, Chocolatier. Of the states that do allow CC in establisments serving liquor, how many instances of illegal (not including self defense) gun violence were committed by CC holders?
Enquiring minds want to know. And for a point of reference, Colorado college students 21 or older have been CCing in their classrooms for twelve years. What could go wrong with hot-headed students bringing guns into the classroom, right?
In fact, nothing went wrong. There have been zero incidents with students CCing in the classroom all those years.
I’m looking forward to your CC/liquor establishment stats.
There have been recent reports of as many as five shooters.
That makes sense. Guns get very hot when you move a lot of ammo through them.
One shooter you can take down. Five – if they are covering each other – not so easy.
off duty polie were there and shot back also two police officers returned fire and still couldn’t stop massacre. sorry good guy with gun nuts.
Captain, it’s called CC for a reason. Imagine yourself in the club. Hundreds of people fleeing and cowering and getting shot. Closet case Muslim asshole didn’t have 360° vision. One CC holder slips out his/her compact 9mm, gets close enough to shoot said asshole in the back of the head, and sends him to Muslim heaven.
Are you happy, Cap, that asshole is dead? Yeah, so there are ten other people dead, but not 49 other people. Because when seconds count, police are only minutes away.
It’s him or you, Cap. What’s your call?
More like hours, not minutes for the SWAT team to show up and go in.
Distributed jihad requires a distributed response. Armed and trained citizens on the spot ready to act.
