Sheet metal screws can save your life! The streets and sidewalks are covered with sheets of ice, and I have to walk the dogs. Worse yet, a new storm descended on Ann Arbor, dumping fresh snow all over the ice. There is no way to know where or how to walk, and it is so easy to slip that it’s ridiculous.
So, I took an old pair of running shoes, and studded them with 1/2″ sheet metal screws. A perfect no-slip solution to a dangerous problem.
If you do this, though, be warned that you should put them on and take them off at the door.
They don’t do wonders for hardwood floors.

Good solution, as long as the other end of the screws don’t dig into the soles of your feet.
Nah, they can’t. These are 1/2″ screws and the rubber is thicker than that. Plus, I put them around the edges. (Would not be wise to put them in the middle.)
It was 77 degrees here in arizona today thanks global warming! Its been in the 70’s all week and will be next week too!
Captain,
So global warming prevented you from screwing up. Good.
