It makes me so happy that a major news network is willing to carry these guys and Stossel even on their business channel.
When I hear lefties complain the Fox is just a shill for the GOP, I invite them to watch those shows and hear some actual logic on TV.
The thing about the Schaivo case is that both sides were pushing a social agenda. I’m uncertain why it is okay for the Dems to do so, but not the Republicans.
So like the Declaration’s unalienable rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” are screwing the pooch for you libertarians? Interesting take on liberty, guys.
While I agree that the discussion should have taken place at the state and local level, when you wantonly kill the defenseless, Good People do less than intelligent things in response.
Second point: The left is the aggressor in the culture wars / social issues. They are typically used as a vehicle to rile up the democrat base. Most recent example is the Obama campaign artificial War on Women stunt during the 2012 campaign. Sadly, it worked as it turned out young, single women to break strongly for Obama and the democrats – all based on a lie.
The view from the right is that when you get continually slapped in the face, eventually you end up responding in some manner.
These discussions all belong at the state and local levels, and the best conservative response is to move them there sooner rather than later.
National politics then would properly reflect what is going on at the state and local levels. Cheers –

Wantonly kill the defenseless? It was adjudicated in Fla. and the state approved. Now if her relatives or insurance were paying to keep her alive your point may have had some merit. If the state is paying…
Medicine is NOT absolutely scientific. Judgment calls have to be made. The people closest are in the best position to decide.
It was not a Federal matter.
As to “life, liberty, …” The Constitution is the implementing document. And the power that allows Congress to intervene is – your sentiment? OK. The the Democrats can use the same rationale. Enjoy.
War On Women?
A couple of Republicans in 2012 helped that along greatly. The Ds couldn’t have made that stick without considerable Republican help. Republicans were happy to oblige.
BTW if you don’t like losing on culture war issues (how is the Drug War working for you?) keep them off the table – and emphasize why. “The Federal Government doesn’t have the power…”.
You might want to look at sentiment on abortion. Americans are generally opposed it is true. But it is also true that they generally don’t want government involved.
Catholic rules on the matter shouldn’t control Jews.

The thing is that I have friends that are on all sides of the spectrum politically. I am a fairly conservative person. The GOP has caught themselves in a trap of using social issues to bolster their numbers. If Republicans would get out of the social issue morality game, more and more people would align themselves with Republicans. But that seems really difficult for them to do.

Why were the unions in Chicago so against plastic pipe? It reduced hours worked. That the ban drove up the cost of housing (especially hard on the poor) was of no concern to them.
