I’m A 1%er

Gary Johnson pulled one million votes. About 1% of the total.

I voted for Johnson. 1% free.

    Four more years. Hey, thanks.

To Simon: Better not to have voted at all. I voted in local races and left the top blank. Even a vote for Johnson or a write-in for Ron Jeremy is, still, an endorsement of the Federal order.

To Luz: If you think that Romney would have done anything libertarian-y, look at the abject capitulation to the Clerisy in his acceptance speech. Romney would have provided Republican and conservative cover to the DC agenda.

    Luz,

I’m in Illinois. Nothing could help Romney and the Republican drug warriors and vagina police here.

    Zim,

I voted for Johnson on anti-prohibition grounds. i.e. against the Federal order. YMMV.

You know, I was going to fire off a “witty” shot here. But I really can’t be bothered with being an a**hole. The main problem with this country these days is there are too many of them. They all think they are right and everyone else is wrong.

I’ve had an epiphany over the last few months. I totally support states rights. Period. The Feds can’t get it done anymore. Anything resembling what we had in the 1860s or even the 1950s-60s are not there anymore. No civics, no shared values, not even good mechanical management. It’s even problematic at the local level (depending where you live), but at least it’s still functional. Sure, there are risks. Look at the 1860s. You can take anything too far. But we are already sectional. There’s got to be some glue left locally.

The other thing I determined is that, is what shape or form I have not yet determined, that I am a Christian. I spent a lot of time as a pretty hard atheist. But I just can’t go on being angry. There’s no use or profit in it.

It is getting really uncomfortable going to blogs these days. Valuable insight, but I do not really fit in anywhere. I go on to libertarian boards and you get the “hard core Christians are evil” from some, so that cuts. Go to a conservative (social AND econ) joint and depending on the place and person you get an interesting conversation or a distressing one. Dem sites? Firebrand Christian Free Will State-rights guy? That hits ALL the checkmarks, there.

I suppose what frustrates me the most is the rage. Nearly everyone’s got at least a taste of it in their mouths, or so it seems. And I keep running into people that think they have the answer. Did anyone here see “The Ascent Of Man” back in the day? Specifically the part regarding knowledge vs certainty. A lot of very certain people these days. Makes me sick to my stomach. And things are only going to get more certain.

I’m probably toast here after this, but that is my post-election rant. I do these best once a decade, at 3 in the morning after stewing for a few hours.

TLM, I identify with everything you said. I am sick to death of opinions, and that often includes my own — even though I have to crank them out lest the blog starve to death.
