I hope M. is well.
Back in the day Isaac Asimov wrote a piece on Frederick the Great’s assessment of the then brand new United States, and the Prussian’s conclusion was that the U.S. was doomed. Isaac concluded that Frederick was right, at the time, because the U.S. didn’t have the communications then it would later have.
The situation is the same today. Today we have the tools for different parties to stay in touch much more easily than they had then, so interest groups can stay in touch more easily than before, and may even have a better chance to prosper and grow. It’s the difference between having a neighborhood of common interest, and a city of common interest.
Thanks. 🙂
I’m not exactly a Deadhead – I never followed them around. But…thanks. That’s a new one for me.
As to what the world’s coming to that it didn’t then. Who knows? You can take the dark side and say it’s all going to fail. Or you can be the prophet in 1902 who wrote “A Trip to the Moon” (HG Wells).
The future is what we make it. Let’s hope we can make it something good.
And damn that’s some good music – I’ve heard bits of it before but never this version. “I know you, rider, gonna miss me when I’m gone”
Kathy I am just delighted that you enjoyed it.
dr, M. is well but busy.
And Alan, I’m hoping we’ll go on being doomed for a long time!
I hope that wasn’t Donna Dead-dancing backstage.
