Did the “Greek homos” steal philosophy and mathematics from Al Sharpton or from whomever he claims to “represent”?
I didn’t know that the Greeks (much less the “homos” among them) stole philosophy or math from anyone, but Al Sharpt0n does. And he said so in an audio clip with which I’m having trouble.
The trouble started when I clicked on Glenn Reynolds’ link to the following transcript:
White folks was in the cave when we were building empires. We learned to admire them, but they knew to admire us. We built pyramids without a ____, ____ new architecture ____. We talked philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.
OK, the “Greek homos” part is clear, if unoriginal. Many a crackpot activist has laid blame at Greek homos for messing up humanity and destroying civilization and stuff. Even the Romans didn’t like them. And whether Socrates was gay or not, the Greeks certainly didn’t seem to have liked him. Whether that means he was part of a gay cabal to plagiarize math and philosophy from Sharpton’s people (whoever they may be) is at least debatable. As to astrology, I will leave it to the judgment of my readers to determine whether that was an accomplishment worth the time of Socrates’ gay henchmen to purloin or to pretend to have invented.
But the plot thickened when I listened to the actual “Greek homos” tape:. My interpretation varied, because this is what I heard:
White folks was in the cave when we were due empires. We learned to admire them, but they knew to admire us! We built pyramids with our trucks, and our new architecture of! We talked philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.
If you listen, you’ll hear that the last line drew the most laughs. Must have been some kind of inside joke. It’s worth noting that Sharpton subsequently apologized — but only for using the term “homos,” not for the charge that Socrates and his followers stole math, philosophy, and astrology from their true inventors.
So I’m confused, as usual. And I’m also trying to figure out how to reconcile this with the big picture. After all, the “homos” are often accused of destroying Western Civilization. But if they and their Greek Socrates homo cabal had to steal it from the people Al Sharpton claims to be representing, then by any standard it is clear that they’ve had it for a long time.
So what’s taking them so long to destroy it?

Mr. Sharpton’s people are working on the destruction with all deliberate haste.
I’ve heard this tape many times (Opie and Anthony play it whenever Sharpton is going after a radio talk host).
Every word coming out of his mouth is nonsense, that’s the point. There is no point in trying to apply logic – that’s the point.
Worse still, apparently Sharpton thinks civilization is a thing, like a wide-screen TV, that Greek homos could go to Africa, grab, and take away with them so that the Africans didn’t have it any more.
The mistake is in taking seriously anything that the Reverend Sharpton chooses to let loose from his mouth.
OTOH, if you take seriously some of what he let loose from his mouth, you could
win a libel suit.
The destruction is well underway.

How long will it take? Depends on who the next President is. If it is a Republican it will take a little longer.
Besides, its an established fact that the Egyptians were not black Africans, no matter how Sharpton or others want to try to rewrite history.
I’ve been researching for a screenplay about Xenophon, and it’s pretty clear that Socrates was bisexual rather than a homo. Though one might say he was asexual, since he believed so strongly in never acting on his erotic desires.
I think this is what was actually said:

Look into the Black Athena controversy for some idea where Sharpton is coming from with this.
Sharpton has shown repeatedly that he a racist and a homophobe, yet somehow he is still treated with respect. It just shows what a joke the modern left (and their supporters in the media) has become.
I just transcribed (as carefully as I could) exactly what I could hear when I listened to the tape.
