Eric asks why there is a double standard from all sides when it comes to speech.
That is not the only place such double standards exist. I was having a drug war conversation with some folks and had this to say:
Arguing prohibition with conservatives is like arguing economics with liberals. At least that has been my experience.
Let me say this about that.
Liberals argue PERFECTLY (or nearly so) the economics of prohibition. Conservatives are generally unable to do so.
And then I ask liberals to apply that analysis to the rest of their program and they suddenly get stupid.
OTOH drugs make conservatives stupid.

Thanks! To most people, the war on drugs is OK, until they start messing with THEIR drug of choice. Only then does it become oppression.
To top it off, Progressives are lying when they say they’ll stop the Drug War. They require the drug laws to enforce their program…
Happy KWANZA! everybody.
Neil,
Well the lies from liberals are from those at the top. But that is true of all politicians at the top.
The liberals of Washington State weren’t lying. And those of Colorado weren’t lying.
I thought both sides want the War on Some Drugs and are merely quibbling over the list of Some Drugs.
