True, and that is a black mark against him. However, he did prevent the wholesale genocide of whites that the radicals in the ANC wanted. It will be interesting to see whether that genocide now happens.
He was a Communist who (at the least) refrained from acting on his beliefs. Furthermore, he relinquished power when his term was up though he could have had the presidency for life.
I’d give him full points if he had openly renounced Communism, but perhaps he would not have survived that.
Nelson Mandella was a great man. The communists were willing to fight along side him When amerikkka was murdering civil rights workers and dick cheney was asking the south african government not to let him out of jail after the murder of steve biko.
