Richard Feldman of the Independent Firearm Owners Association has an oped in USA Today.
…we must focus on the fact that authorities say 30% to 45% of all gun crime is attributable to the illegal drug trade. History proved that taking profit out of trade in “demon rum” dramatically eliminated related violence. Why wouldn’t that work again?

It worked before!
When drugs were legal and people could buy them in stores and catalogs, there was no drug crime. Drug crime is a creation of the modern state.
“I believe it would work again.”
YEAH – but. It also took all the gov’t money out of it. Which is totally unacceptable nowadays. We’ve got to give the government lots of taxes – to even begin to prevail. And that’s not really going to help. (Except in keeping people out of jail who don’t belong there.) The prices won’t go down.
