I’ve heard versions of this before – the mob wanted to take out Robert Kennedy, but knew
john would retaliate. otoh, if they took out John Robert would be out of a job. I don’t find this very credible, for one thing, when and how did the mob recruit whacko commie Oswald?

Makes a good circumstantial case that Oswald was recruited by the GRU, not the KGB. The KGB could and did claim they had no idea who Oswald was. By the time of the assassination he was on the outs with the GRU for being too flaky and unreliable. The assassination was an attempt to get back into the fold by showing his worth.
Oswald fired all three shots. He was a skilled marksman, both from being a Marine and from the “hunting club” (GRU training camp) he belonged to in Minsk. Marina Oswald was the daughter of a high-ranking GRU officer. Whatever happened to her, anyway?

Although it should be pointed out, contra Hunter, that Oswald had a measured IQ of 120. Whatever he was, he wasn’t a moron.
My favorite conspiracy theory: JFK really was assassinated by the CIA, and it’s a good thing they did. He was whacked out of his skull on pain pills and stimulants, increasing delusional and erratic, and very likely to blunder into a nuclear war with the Soviets through blatant stupidity and incompetence.
I have seen reports that Oswald was a double agent. That would put the CIA in on the hit.
The CIA of course likes criminals. They already are trained in the rudiments of tradecraft. And they are also necessary for drug distribution.

I would like to know how Oswald fired the shots that hit Kennedy from the front. And then there was the fourth bullet.
Three shooters makes more sense for an assured kill. And none of them would have to have been Oswald. Who claimed to have been a patsy. Which may be the truth.
No shot hit Kennedy from the front. The fatal shot entered from the back of his head and exited in front, blowing off the top of his head in passage. One shot lodged in a stop light, one hit Gov. Connolly, and one went through JFK’s head.
Pacepa claims a lot of Oswald’s activities in the months leading up to the assassination look like tradecraft. Who’s tradecraft is an open question.
And don’t forget about the Foreplay for Cuba committee.

Look at the Zapruder film. A frontal shot is obvious.
I actually met a couple of guys from the Fair Play for Cuba Committee. Around ’62, ’63 when I was a student at U Chicago.
I gave them a hard time at their presentation.
And don’t forget the original release of the Zapruder film where they had frames out of order.
Why would the FBI do that? Well it makes the frontal shot less obvious.

I think the big splash out of the front of his head is the exit. Those types of .223 rounds don’t make much of a hole going in, but they tend to deform and tumble on the way through, so the exit wound is much larger.
Look at the F=ma. Which way his head moves.
Muscle spasm. A .223 round has 715 ft lbs of energy at 300 meters, but that doesn’t all get transferred to the target, it’s passing through.
IIRC weren’t there complete copies of the Zapruder film in circulation before the mangled one showed up? This is getting into Mae Brussel territory. btw, you’d need a shooting platform 30 feet high on the Grassy Knoll to achieve the angle of the shots. The FBI shits all over everything it touches.
Anyway, I highly recommend the Pacepa book. He was head of Romanian intelligence before defecting, he knows what he’s talking about.
I thought about the physics problem a bit more. The reason his head jerks back isn’t the impact of a bullet from the front, it’s the reaction from the front of his head leaving at velocity.
oswald killed kennady and officer tippet. I was around back then. I saw the smirk on oswalds face when newsman asked him if he shot the president. what confuses people is that their were other plots to kill kennady so their is evidence of these plots oswald did it where others plotted.

Good for you. I recall a Fidel fan who provided a link which among other things, claimed that in 1950’s Cuba, there were ~2,200 inhabitants per physician in the countryside, which was supposed to show how bad things were for rural Cuba. While this was definitely bad compared to Cuba overall, which at the time had ~1,000 inhabitants per physician, were rural Cuba a country, it would have at the time ranked about 35th worldwide with its ~2,200 inhabitants per physician.
My suspicion is that Castro had JFK killed for all the times JFK tried to kill Castro.

And my take on how the shooting went down:
One question is why Oswald fired on the car as it was leaving the area, the shot into the oncoming car would have been much easier.
Oswald’s Mannlicher-Carcano was fitted with a piece of crap Japanese made scope by the dealer. It may never have been properly mounted. In any case, by the time the rifle was recovered by the police the scope was loose, partially broken free from the mounting, useless in other words. Earlier Oswald had been seen carrying something around in a back, what he said was a curtain rod, obviously the gun. I contend the scope got knocked loose sometime in the handling that morning. Oswald sets up a sniper hide, sees the motorcaid approach, starts to take the shot, finds out the scope is borked, reverts to iron sites, by that time the car has passed.

It claims there was an autopsy before the “real” one to doctor the wounds.
I thought the evidence was pretty good. It included the time Kennedy’s body was missing due to a “mix-up” by the ambulance driver.
It has been 20 years so I don’t have the details at my fingertips.
