His Supporters

I was having a discussion with a tech buddy of mine (stepper motors) and the talk naturally turned to politics. My buddy (a Canadian) is going back to Canada. One of the reasons he gave was American politics. The talk naturally turned to Trump. We both agreed (from perusal of the ‘net) that Trump supporters seemed especially racist. “Niqqa” this and “niqqa” that. He said the the Trump supporters were evidencing the most racist outpouring he had seen in American politics since George Wallace ran for President. I had to agree with him.

You and your friend are very confused. You have absolutely no idea what is going on.

    Bernie,

It is considered impolite at best for white people to Niqqa.

    bob,

Would you care to enlighten us? I have a Black friend living with me. We discuss things. Have been for 40 years.

Trump represents the backlash against the Democrats’ race baiting. It’s excepted but unfortunate.

Any divisive politician will attract loonies at the edge. Any evidence that the Trump campaign overall is racist? For any meaningful definition of “racism”, not the general purpose snarl word and insult it has degenerated into.

The stereotype racist is still some sort of shitkicker toothless cousin-humping hillbilly. Truth is, the most vicious, hate-filled racists are from places like South Boston, not The South. The actual south made an accommodation between races decades ago.

    MMM,

All I can judge by is what I see on rabid Trump supporting sites.

Hotgas, Conservative Tree House, And the pro-Trump posts at Breitbart and of course the “we hate everybody” Zero Hedge.

It doesn’t seem like a fringe to me. But you are correct about Trump.

Rabid net.loons are nothing new. Something about the medium brings them out. Probably the same type of people who used to stand on a street corner mumbling and pissing on themselves.

Not really – it’s just that the press are doubling down on reports of any racist trump supporters. And the trolls don’t help.

But I know a lot of trump supporters personally – and none of them are racist – and a lot of them aren’t white, either. (Since white seems to equal racist in a lot of minds, I thought I’d mention that.)

    Kathy Kinsley,

I’m not going by any news story on this. My stepper motor friend and I are both going by comments we read around the ‘net.

Johnson dumped the white Democrat racists (mostly) and the Republicans were glad to have them.

It was called back in the day, “Nixon’s Southern Strategy.”

The Republican Party post Lincoln was a champion of Blacks. Post Nixon it has become the old white men’s Party.

And Kathy – I do not doubt your reports are true.

If you call the welfare state championing blacks. Otherwise, the Great Society was one of the worst things to happen to blacks since slavery. See “Losing Ground” by Charles Murray for the hard data.

    MMM,

It was a 1 – 2 punch. Lyndon Johnson got his welfare and Nixon got his Drug War. Which pushed Black families onto welfare en mass.

Problem is the Democrats are subtle racists. As Reagan said, The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: “I’m from the government and I’m here to help”
