Who is the “Real Conservative?
Columnist Charles Krauthammer stated that House Speaker Representative Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) reluctannce to support presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is him wanting “to establish a center of power and a kind of home for the conservative wing” and saying to Trump, “you’re going to have to reckon with the conservatives, even if you aren’t one” on Friday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel.
The really good stuff though, is in the comments.
There goes Krauthamer, former leftist, wrong again. Ryan is not a conservative, he is an establishment tool. Like a lot of conservatives he is a globalist, but whereas conservatives might be misled on ‘free trade’ this little sh-t knows exactly what is going on.
Hard to call someone a conservative when the first thing he did as speaker is push through the largest and most bloated budget in U.S. History.

Wisconsin businessman Paul Nehlen announced Tuesday that he is the tea party-allied candidate who is challenging House Speaker Paul D. Ryan in the Republican primary, saying he’s “had it” with the speaker betraying conservatives.

“Paul Ryan’s embrace of big government spending, his continued support of illegal immigration and imported workers, and his championing of the job-killing trade deal known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership betrays me, this district, and this nation,” he said.
Paul Ryan’s primary opponent: I’ll support Trump. And just to finish this post off nice and clean like. Shock Poll: Paul Ryan could lose House seat to Nehlen in primary. The poll shows Nehlen up 46% to 41% against Ryan.
The meaning of “conservative” is changing. There are more than a few not ready for change. Including some DC lobbyists.

Sarah Palin endorses Nehlen.
Sarah Palin will work to defeat House Speaker Paul Ryan by backing his primary opponent in Wisconsin, the former Alaska governor told CNN’s Jake Tapper.
Palin said in an interview that airs Sunday on “State of the Union” that her decision was sparked by Ryan’s bombshell announcement to Tapper last week that he wasn’t yet ready to support Donald Trump, the Republican presumptive nominee. Palin endorsed Trump back in January.
“I think Paul Ryan is soon to be ‘Cantored,’ as in Eric Cantor,” Palin said, referring to the former Republican House majority leader who was ousted in a shocking upset in 2014 when challenger Dave Brat ran to his right in a Virginia primary.

Please enlighten me: what was the original meaning of “conservative” that is changing? Because I have seen nothing of what I considered conservative coming out of the GOP since the Bush catastrophe.

Around 1900 it used to mean limited government and balanced budgets.
I think we are in the process of going back to the old meaning.
I have said for years, “If Republicans stuck to economic issues they couldn’t lose.”

I’m really starting to wonder about the Krauthammer/Will wing of the conservative movement. Are they going senile or what? Who pays attention to them any more, the circulation of National Review is maybe 30,000. And what is it they are conserving? Seems like what they want to conserve is some of the worst features of the last 50 years.

Let’s say Mitt throws a snit and runs as a third party candidate specifically to defeat Trump. Exactly how much will his platform differ, in real terms?
I still don’t see what they’re so scared of, seems like, when you get right down to it, Trump is a reasonable guy who likes to make deals.

Another hot button issue for the guardians of conservatism is creationism. What will happen if some bimbo reporterette tries to embarrass Trump by asking him if he believes in evolution? Prediction: he finds a way to implode this Republiservative issue as dead as the abortion gotcha issue.
Probably something to offend everyone, like “Well, of course I believe in evolution, but even Darwin believed in god. [insert further self-contradictory blather as needed]”. Issue deflated.
