Utah – Pornography Is A Health Crisis

Utah becomes 1st state to declare pornography a public health crisis

Clay Olsen, co-founder of Fight the New Drug, called it a “historic” moment for Utah and a step in the right direction.

“This is a challenge young people are dealing with at a level we have never seen,” said Olsen, wearing a “Porn Kills Love” T-shirt.

BYU family life professor Brian Willoughby said he believes there’s now enough research to suggest pornography is a significant health crisis. Numerous studies, he said, connect pornography use to lower mental health outcomes and relationship well-being and detrimental expectations about sex.

Still, he said more research is needed on the short-term and long-term effects of pornography.

“We’re far from being able to make definitive causal statements about what pornography does and how it influences everyone who views it. However, the circumstantial research evidence that we do have all point to and suggest pornography is not harmless,” Willoughby said.

In other words they have nothing. But that is not a bad thing. Like Ted Cruz, I’m willing to help if I get well paid to study porn with a female supreme court justice. Or even better a group of female law interns.

Utah is still a bit behind the times in some areas. The other day an adult theater (not xxx, just adult) was charged for showing Deadpool while serving beer. Apparently they were supposed to censor the naughty bits.

You know the stereotypical 1950s puritan mom & dad? They still exist in Utah, and they vote.

That said, I believe Utah is (or is one of) the top porn-watching state in the country. It may or may not have something to do with being one of the most sexually repressed states (which imo, has good and bad side effects).

I think the worst thing about porn is how much of a time-waster it is.

    Stan,

Mormon girls go after men and try to get pregnant by them. Marriage being the obvious “cure”. I had one try that on me when I lived in Idaho. Some years later I was comparing notes with other guys and found out that the tactic was not unusual.
