The National Enquirer then publishes nothing more than allegations of ‘outlandish rumors’ and credulous tweeters and bloggers change allegations of rumors into allegations of affairs and run with it.
I think the ultimate fallout of the Trump candidacy will be the destruction of the Tea Party and the discrediting of much of the conservative new media/blogosphere. Trump has transmogrified both of these groups into exactly the caricature of themselves the liberal mainstream media claimed they were.
If you remember the John Edwards story – covered extensively here – it was all denials in the beginning. It took a while for the truth to come out.
It is early days yet. Very early days.

The difference was the Edwards story wasnt reported by the Enquirer as allegations of outlandish rumors, but as hard facts. It was also a story the MSM sat on in order to protect a favored Democrat. The MSM would be salivating at the prospect of bringing down an openly religious Republican candidate and even the NY Times has published ultimately flase allegations of Republican infidelities (McCain and a staffer) based on the thinnest of evidence. They would not have passed it there was any real substance to these rumors.
I am not saying its impossible that Cruz has had an affair, but the likelihood of someone who has made as many enemies as Cruz has having had affairs with these very prominent women and it not having been reported years ago seems exceedingly unlikely.
