A number of Cruz supporters speak to his response to recent events in Chicago at a Trump rally. I’m going to excerpt some of the more interesting comments.
Pappy Beagles: I’m a Texan, I voted for you for the senate, and was supporting you for president, up until you blamed Trump for the savage behavior of Hillary and Bernie supporters in Chicago. I just sent a $100.00 contribution to a billionaire, and i’m retired on a fixed income, so guess this is goodbye to you, and I am now firmly on the Trump wagon.
And:
Jace Conners: Ted Cruz… i was an undecided voter who was leaning your way then you blamed trump for the actions of violent protesters. I am now voting Trump thanks for helping me make my choice tonight.
And:
Abigail Mccamick: At least Rubio had the integrity to admit and say that many of the protesters were paid to be there and cause chaos. Ted takes advantage to use such an ugly tragedy to campaign. Undecided here but Cruz just pushed me farther away with his actions over the protest.
It is quite possible these people were already Trump supporters. It is also possible that they are authentic voices. We will know in about 16 or 18 hours what the truth is.
All this reminds me of Nixon in ’68. It also reminds me of CSNY:
And a slight personal historical note re:the CSNY video. I have joined the other side.

Second City Cop blog has a few things to say about the disturbances at the Trump rally there last week. The short version: police were unprepared.

Cruz tried to walk it back:
But, as you say, we’ll see. Illinois and Missouri are both open primaries though. I’m guessing a goodly number of Dem’s will vote in them and pull the lever for Trump, since they like the idea of being in charge but not the reality. Leadership is just too messy and difficult and unpure. Rebels without a clue.
Canada turd crud is finished! Democrats taking republican ballots in ohio. When newsman ask dem woman why republican ballot to vote against trump. She says NO to vote for trump to bring our jobs back! Good news for trump bad news for hillary!
No more comments necessary, although parts of Cook County still haven’t reported and could come up with a million votes in Cruz’s favor.
Actually, Kasich clobbering Trump gives Cruz a better shot by guaranteeing a brokered convention.
