I’ll never forget that awful day fourteen years ago. It’s had great staying power, as the occasion has furnished an endless supply of rationalizations to take away ever more freedom from Americans. (Ironic, because it was an attack on our freedom.)
I’m glad to see that some students right here in Ann Arbor have not forgotten.
They have “placed 2,977 small American flags in the ground as they participated in the 9/11 Never Forget Project.”
Each flag represents a life lost during the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.
Good for them! Most people around here don’t even seem to realize it is the 9/11 anniversary, and pretty soon, there will be a generation wholly unaware of it. (Your average entering freshman was four years old at the time of the attack.)

I am look at the may 27 2002 time and newsweek magazine both covers entitled what bush new. Mrs. Clinton holding up daily news headline bush knew! Never forget bush was given briefing by cia in august 2001. titled bin ladin determined to attack in america with airplanes. Bush says ok you have covered your asses! Sec. rice saying who could imagine someone attacking a building with airplanes as she is shown a picture of her in milan italy shortly before 9-11 walking past an anti-aircraft battery ready to shoot down any aircraft trying to crash into building. In 1998 neo-cons said in progress for a new american century that they would need a second pearl harbor before they would be allowed to attack iraq! Never forget!
We should as Americans be vigilant against people who try to rewrite the history of 9/11 for their own political purposes. That happened after Pearl Harbor was attacked. There are a lot of people in this country right now who still believe that Saddam Hussein, the Iranian government, or the Mossad carried out the 9/11 attack, and I know people who believe that George W. Bush himself engineered the 9/11 attack as a pretext for invading Afghanistan and Iraq. There is no shortage of whacky conspiracy theories about 9/11.
chocolatier if I see your enemy with a gun walk by me telling me he is going to shoot you and ignore it instead of reporting it to police. I can rightly say I did not shoot you but I alowed it to happen! Bush needed a “second pearl harbor” and alowed it to happen!

I was on United 777 on approach to PEK @ 20:30 or so. The stew’s were oddly maudlin but they didn’t let on. Got to the hotel an hour later and the engineer I was traveling with told me to turn on CNN. I called my relatives in the US to assure them that I was OK and my sister insisted that I take a ship back home(!)
Anyway, I was stuck in China for a couple of weeks. Visiting a vendor n Xi’an—which has a significant Muslim population—I heard some pretty excited positive comments about bin Laden’s “glorious accomplishment” but overall the Chinese were nonplussed. They didn’t give a shit one way or the other. Internal Chinese flights were unaffected so I made my way down to Shenzhen to visit another vendor, crossed the border to HKG, and boarded a UA 747 which had exactly 78 passengers flying to SFO [the Chinese are superstitious like that…lots of cancellations on that flight]. Got my choice of entire five-seat center sections to sleep on.
That nicety was broken once I got on my connecting flight from SFO. A three hour security line followed by extremely bitchy UA stews. I didn’t blame them, really. They had just lost quite a few of their own.
I thank the Navy SEALs for putting lots of ventilation holes in bin Laden’s body. It was better than he deserved.
truthers are people who have no real evidence for their claims like obama was born in kenya or that bush and cheney participated in 9-11. I challenge any one on the facts that bush got cia warning bin ladin determined to attack in america, congolissa rice passing anti-aircraft battery in milan italy when she said who coulds imagine anyone flying airplanes into buildings, neo-cons saying in progress for new american century in 1998 that they would need a “second pearl harbor” before the american people would allow an invasion of iraq or treasury secretary saying in first bush cabinet meeting in janury 2001 neo-cons trying to figure out away to get the american people to let them invade iraq! Try and challenge any of these facts I dare you!

I used to set out huge lists of facts to refute – and so did everyone else. But you all just kept on believing. Just like the Obama truthers.
I finally gave it up as a useless exercise. (Same way I gave up on the Born in Kenya Truthers, and the people who claim we never landed on the moon.)
