The Last Days In Vietnam

From: HuffPo

What is most ironic is that the left is celebrating what some of our military did. Back in the day they voted against arming the South Vietnamese in order to help them resist the Communists. So in a very big way this is revisionist history. Still…

I saw the premiere of this movie at Pixar Studios. Rory Kennedy was there. Giving more arms to the South Vietnamese army would have just briefly postponed the inevitable. Kissinger and Nixon knew the war was lost even before the Paris Peace Accord was signed.

That statement is only true because the Vietnam War was from the beginning fought on enemy terms. How well I remember listening to Dean Rusk and Robert McNamara lay out our “limited” objectives on national TV during the build up. As a draft age kid I had a keen interest in what we were doing over. The crux of the betrayal was that those fighting and dying, including the South Vietnamese, were being asked to risk their lives while our shit assed politicians drew lines not to be crossed in their defense. Unlimited amounts of Russian military supplies were unloaded in Haiphong Harbor without a bomb dropped or a mine set in place until it was too late. Had we fought WW2 like this Hitler’s heirs would be ruling Europe today. It was a fucking sham from the beginning. In a just world Lyndon Johnson would have been hanged upside down from a White House balcony while Rusk and McNamara were gutted on the Capitol steps.

    I Slam Islam.

BTW the Vietnamese are begging to join in with trade with the US.

    Who won? Who lost?

Islam will not survive contact with the corrupting West. Any more than Vietnam did. They have already lost the war.

It is worth remembering that the US inherited the war after the French pullout.

Had the US supported Ho Chi Minh against France when he requested aid, there would have been no Vietnam War (and we would not continue be scolded by an elite cadre of aging baby boomers whose dubious moral authority is grounded in “bravely” evading the draft).

  7. […] M. Simon’s post about Vietnam reminded me what it was like to be a college student during that period. Many young men whose parents could not afford college (or whose grades weren’t good enough) were drafted and sent to war. […]

Ho Chi Minh was a communist. Given that the containment of communism was the cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy for decades, there was no way any U.S. president could have supported him or his government.
