They Decided What We Should Think

It is about the BBC and Climate.

The BBC has spent tens of thousands of pounds over six years trying to keep secret an extraordinary ‘eco’ conference which has shaped its coverage of global warming, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The controversial seminar was run by a body set up by the BBC’s own environment analyst Roger Harrabin and funded via a £67,000 grant from the then Labour government, which hoped to see its ‘line’ on climate change and other Third World issues promoted in BBC reporting.

Now look at who is reporting on the revelations? Bloggers. This search picks up Telegraph.co.uk and that is it. And just in case you were wondering, The Canada Free Press which sounds like a newspaper is a blogging site. But it is early in the news cycle. Let us see what happens over the next few days. It is funny that no mainstream news blogs have picked it up though.

Here is the Telegraph Report. The Daily Mail report is now about a day old. Making the relative silence even more remarkable.

Update:

I think I should probably add that the most popular video on the Daily Mail site is about a woman who had a three hour orgasm. Spoiler – although it is obvious once you start watching – it is a TV show. There are no naughty bits in the video. Yeah. I HAD to check. So you don’t have to.

Back on topic: Watts Up With That broke the story in November of 2013. A couple of months ago.

Update: 0946z 13 January 2014

How the Blair government paid for the subversion of our state broadcaster – James Delingpole

I call that a brilliant team effort by 28Gate United and I for one am absolutely delighted by the contribution of our latest signing, top Mail On Sunday striker David Rose. This, after all, is a story which has been quite shamefully ignored by much of our mainstream media. Perhaps this will now change and, if we’re lucky, we might even see one or two heads rolling.

“28Gate” is the name of the scandal. And of course the post is soccer tounge in cheek.

Thanks to commenter Mountain Man Molehill for the heads up.

Auntie Beep has really disgraced herself recently. Considering that they are entirely funded by British rate payers they have no business keeping anything secret.

They once had an unbeatable news organization, with reporters in all the world’s hot spots. Went seriously down hill around when Tony Blair took office.

    -Shoulda been “Auntie BeeB” duh

    – I date the ultimate downfall of the Blair Broadcasting Company from when they fired Frank Muir.

-James Delingpole has been blogging about this. Worth reading at Telegraph Blogs.

-How good did they used to be? Back just before the Soviet Union dissolved Gorbachev sent the Red Army into Lithuania where they slaughtered protesting civilians. The BBC had a reporter on the ground being shot at by Soviet troops as he was reporting it.
