High And Not So High

You remember the Gallup Poll where 58% favored pot legalization? The number seemed a bit high. But as a proponent of legalization I was happy with it. There is a new poll out by CNN/ORC that shows 55% favor pot legalization. Not so high. Since they are both within the margin of error of each other there is no way to tell which is correct. So what do we know? The number favoring legalization is likely well above 50% in the US. It is probably not unreasonable to average the two polls and come up with 56% (rounding to the low side) favoring legalization. And the numbers for legalizing medical marijuana are running about 20% higher. Which may be why New York State is about to partially legalize medical marijuana by the Governors fiat.

In other pot news Mexican smugglers are using fracking rigs to drill tunnels across the US/Mexican border. Finally – a use for fracking tools that hippie environmentalists probably favor.
