The biggest cause of single motherhood in the US is Drug Prohibition which has put 30% of Black Males in the criminal justice system.
Conservatives seem to avoid looking at the side effects of their attempts to impose “morality”. Instead of bringing people to morality one at a time they attempt to to avoid the effort by passing laws. The thing is you can’t do just one thing. Or put another way: there will be side effects.
What is the advantage of bringing people to morality one at a time? Individuals can adjust for the side effects. Laws are not nearly so flexible. Morality is not a physics problem where you can isolate a system and deal only with the effects you are interested in.

The biggest cause of single motherhood in the U.S. is the welfare state. The data and research clearly show correlation between the advent of the welfare state as it has existed since the 60s and the disintegration of the black family as well as the explosion of out-of-wedlock childbirth amongst blacks. What is it now something like 70% of all births?
While the incarceration rate for drug offenses among blacks is high and surely plays into the problem in some way, I have no idea how you jump right past the damage wrought by the welfare state to make your claim.
It is all intertwined.
Then there are those conservatives who will support ending the WOD only if tax money isn’t used for rehabbing addicts.
IOW, they don’t mind using public monies for raining down violence on drug users and sellers via the WOD , but not one thin dime s/b used to help an addict. Go figure.
