It’s hard to have a blog and have nothing to say, but that’s the way it is. A jury rendered a verdict, and everyone is emotional. I’m not.
There is such a thing as self defense, and I would not want to be on the ground and have my nose broken and my head bashed against the pavement by anyone, and even if I had irritated the person who did it, I would defend myself. I am 5’6″ and 59 years old, and if I had a gun, I might shoot. That would not make me much of a hero, would it? Would it make my attacker a hero? Even if I had upset him so much that he attacked me, I don’t see why.
I just think this whole thing sucks, especially the way it has been totally and completely racialized.
If someone attacks, why should their race matter? If someone defends against an attack, why should his race matter?
But it does matter, to a lot of people.
What am I not getting?

The point is to leverage the masses for personal power.
political correctness = brain washing
mobs = perceived need for more gov. control
The other interesting point is how utterly counterproductive and stupid the protests are.
I know some people in Oakland, and they’re all furious about the protestors disrupting people’s lives and damaging property … over something that happened 3,000-odd miles way that has nothing whatsoever to do with Oakland at all.
Needless to say, sympathy was lost by these actions, and people are muttering about eventually passing laws to actually punish rioting.
(Much as I have said about the Internet – if we ever lose Internet privacy by legal means, it’ll be because of people like Anonymous who claim to be fighting “for” it.
Scaring, angering, or massively inconveniencing the mass of the people is a great way to bring down their immoderate wrath.)
