Birds of a feather prey together

Yesterday I made friends with a Cockatoo named Angel, who was so friendly that I thought she wanted to go home with me:

And today I paid a visit to the Raptor Center to look at my friends there. They have a Barn Owl (Tyto alba) which I have inappropriately given the inappropriate name of “Barney.” Earlier today, Barney was nice enough to let me photograph him eating:

Yum yum yummy!

Then there’s the Bald Eagle who thinks he’s human. He has bonded with humans to such a neurotic degree that they can’t let him go. He didn’t mind my camera:

Absolutely beautiful bird, though he looks more patriotic than he is.

    Beautiful.
I was lucky enough to have barn owls raising their young in my pigeonholes (built in to the walls of my barn in Normandy, France) this summer. One fell out (or was pushed!) at about 8-10 weeks, so I picked him up and climbed a ladder to put him back with his 4 siblings. Seems to be ok, no feathers found, and now they’ve all flown the coop.
