Democrat: Islam Should Rule America

Of course our Christian Democrats (Republicans) believe that Christianity should rule America thus giving fools like this an opening. How about no religion can rule America? It is safer that way.

Afther the Repubs jumped on his comment, he clarified that he was not referring to Islamic religious teachings. He says there may be teaching methods in the schools that could be brought to good effect in public schools. He didn’t mention any specifics however. In his follow up comments, he says he supports separation of church and state.

    FWIW, anyway.

Related to this is something that happened in Louisiana recently:

Seems the state legislature recently passed a law whereby vouchers from the state could be used at private schools, even those with religious affiliations. Evidently the schools have to register with the state to be eligible for the vouchers.

Well, a muslim school applied and now some supporters are all aghast wondering how this happened. The pol in the article was fine with vouchers for Christian schools but she didn’t know the vouchers could be used for non-Christian schools. Evidently she equates “religion” with Christianity only.

Madrassas teach memorization techniques quite well. A useful skill when it is not accompanied by the imposition of dogmatic beliefs and the suppression of inquisitiveness.

    Will,

Useful in the 13th century. In the 21st Century teaching critical thinking is better. We have the ‘net if we need facts.

We do have an awesome data base in the ‘net’. I loved Aismov’s article comparing what is not taught in today’s math courses to “A New and Complete System of Arithmetic” published in 1786 by Nicholas Pike. Which was filled with tables and formulas for converting currencies and measurements. Still a broad internal database is helpful in refining a search, even today.

    Will,

That database is important. But you no longer have to go to school to acquire it.

Simon, a lot of us Christians would go for “no religion ruling”, except that evangelical atheists persist in trying to treat any mention of religion as “ruling”.

    Easy enough SDN,

Do what Jesus told his followers to do: Pray in a closet.

If you want to say something in the public square only do it where it is well received.

    You know. Be a Christian.

Of course I’m a Jew so you need not pay me any heed. I follow the religion of Jesus not the religion about Jesus. Well enough of theology. To each his own.

Why am I so antagonistic to Public Christians – well I was forced to go to non-denomination Christian services in public school. You know – Christmas and Easter assemblies where a lot of hymns to Jesus were performed. It offended me.

My public high school was 50% Jewish. I don’t recall Passover assemblies.

You see how it works – what you want creates enemies. And now you are on the defensive as your enemies have grown stronger. You could have avoided all that by setting an example v forced indoctrination.

The Islamics are now following your example and precedent. You should be happy about such results.

The power of spirit v the power of government. Christians mostly chose the latter. Are you having fun yet?

Uh. Well. I guess you hit one of my buttons.
