Andrew had some very interesting things to say before his death. This is one of them.
Note that next to the first communist speaker is a placard with “Todd Gitlin” on it. He was a radical since his 60s Haight Ashbury days. I used to read his column regularly in “Good Times” when I was a denizen of those parts. I used to know a lot of those folks. Heck. I used to be one of them. I now live to tell the tale. Breitbart nails it. He KNOWS them too. (Well KNEW is probably more apt. – We will miss you Andrew.)

What strikes me is about this tape is how tired and uninspiring they speakers are. They are going through the motions, but it’s just empty words. And the actions they propose are so derivative. Next they’ll be proposing a sit-in. Oh wait, that IS what occupy is all about. Do any of them have an original thought?

You’re correct about the Savio speech having some hair on it, but if Mario were alive today he’d be just as tired and blatherprone as the rest of these half-baked hasbeens. I knew Gitlin and a host of others at Berkeley and I listened to Mario’s speech in real time. All dust in the wind now, except that for the Gitlins dust is all they’ve got.
