I also liked the Shambala bookstore when I was living in Berserkeley. That this is the first notice I had of its closing- EIGHT YEARS AFTER THE FACT- shows how much time has lapsed since I left Berserkeley.
There were a lot of good bookstores on Telly- Moe’s, Shakespeare’s, Cody’s. Some are still in business. I still have some books I purchased from them.
The video reminded me of hometown friends who made the guru pilgrimage to India. Some still follow their particular guru.
When I was in grad school I had an Indian roommate who informed me of the contempt that most Indians had for Westerners who made the guru pilgrimage to India.
