While the Occupy movement has trouble with basic logic and reason, their reaction to the nutcase arrested (and charged with attempted assassination) for shooting at the White House is just plain bizarre. They actually held a moment of silence for him, and expressed “solidarity” with the accused shooter.
I kid you not; here’s the video:
Can anyone imagine — even for a moment — the reaction had a similar moment of silence been held at a Tea Party gathering?
But I shouldn’t complain. As I keep saying, these people are helping the Republicans. Maybe I should stop criticizing them. Nah, that’s no good, because I cannot endorse solidarity with deranged shooters.
Anyway, my reaction is hardly original. Ace beat me to it some time ago:
I don’t even want to write the obvious words, but I’ll do it: If anyone in the Tea Party expressed solidarity with Jared Loughner (and if a group of Tea Partiers than bowed their head in respectful silence for him), do you imagine the media would have been interested?
This is worse than a mere double standard. It’s a double standard on steroids.

Those who worship the state are quick to overlook the sins of their fellow worshippers. Remember that the violent left-wing groups of the 60’s-70’s were often referred to as “liberals in a hurry” by mainstream liberals and Democrats.
I say we keep on giving them rope, considering what they’re doing with it.
