I’m a fan of Naked Lunch. Especially the movie Naked Lunch
So imagine my surprise when I received a political fund raising e-mail that started off:
Do you want to see Barack Obama and Lady Gaga win this week’s political battle? I know I sure don’t.
As you know tomorrow is the 3rd Quarter FEC deadline for receiving contributions. That’s why we here at The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama are in the middle of a huge fundraising drive – and we need your help!
You see, our political opponents are doing the same. This week, Lady Gaga – the controversial radical Leftist singer joined Barack Obama for a fundraiser held at the residence of the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook.
So I went looking for a Lady Gaga video and found the above video which I rather enjoy. I also sent the fundraisers this little note:
Rock and Roll Music is corrupting our youth. Have you seen how Elvis swivels his hips?
Seriously? Is this the best you have got?
I’m getting so tired of moral panic politics. Get. A. Grip. — — Uh. Oh. That is probably corrupting our youth too. And causing blindness besides.

I don’t think it’s the hips they’re worried about.
It’s the fact that she’s popular and leftist. A repeat of the Oprah Effect that got us the SCoaMF in the first place.
Well of course. But why use “controversial” instead of “popular”. When they write these things they pick every word carefully.
And I really loved her rip off (tribute?) to Naked Lunch.
She is a female mugwump. Noted at the end by having sucked all the life out of her companion. Also the shooting bra is a tribute to “The Tenth Victim”.

And I never would have looked for a video from her had they not used the word “controversial”.

Sade is listening music. Lady Gaga is dance music. Since I still like to dance (as much as that is possible for an old man) I liked the Lady Gaga too.
And the art in the video is very innovative. She has brought a culture most are unfamiliar with to the masses. I like that. What is even nicer is that I get the cultural references. It is an in joke so to speak. Five minutes of in joke. Way cool. IMO.
Isn’t all music listening music?
Just kidding – I understand the theater aspect of Gaga. And who am I to criticize? I once attended a Twisted Sister concert (they were opening for Dio).
Lady Gaga is banking big bucks, but none from my wallet, and neither are political fund raisers. My response to such letters is.
OMG, I believe you. I therefore cannot contribute since I will need all of my funds for the coming EOTWAWKI.
