What’s scary is that this was really really obvious fraud. Apparently the bar for successfully defrauding taxpayers is appallingly low. There must be thousands of cases where the perpetrators weren’t this stupid about it and so evaded detection.
Yet another concrete example of why GDP growth is negatively correlated with government spending.

What that article tells me is that the advent of social media and the proclivity for most Americans to publicly broadcast personal details about their lives will make it easier to root out corruption from public officials as time goes by.
