The first mate and I were trying out a digital camera she had after getting a larger memory card for it. She wanted to try something a little risque – which is unusual for her. I usually have to use Jewish foreplay on her for things like that. I got her to tone it down some (“pull the jacket in a little tighter”) and then I only took a body shot of her. She saw the pictures and said to the effect, “No head? Must be a porno affectation.” Well I do like pictures of naked women and sometimes even body parts. My mate knows me. But I explained to her, “No. It is for your safety. These things have a way of getting out.” And so we copied the pictures (both of them) on to the computer and deleted them from the memory card. We thought.
Well. She went to get some pictures printed and what are the first two that show up on the screen? Yep. You guessed it. Well this mostly shy woman was mortified. Subsequently I deleted the pics from the chip another way and they no longer show up on the chip.
With Weinergate now in the news she is so glad I made her tone it down and only do a body shot.
Kids. Let this be a lesson to you. Or not. After all I do like looking at pictures of naked women. Especially pictures of naked women with faces.

What a cheapskate! You can buy a very good photoprinter for under $200 that will make prints as good as you can buy from a commercial house. Especially if you use special photography paper. Then you can indulge your photo hobby in private.
This happened to me once, but worse. I won’t even go into the precise nature of the photos. I was sure I’d deleted them when I lent the camera to a friend. I think the issue was that she used a card reader rather than the camera to download the photos. Oh boy was that awkward.
As a photographer, I always re-format cards before using them.
After downloading my images to my Mac using a card reader, the Aperture software will ask if I want to delete images from the card. I always delete them after downloading.
Then, before using the card again, I will re-format the card in the camera. At that point, the card is safely wiped clean.
So, in addition to deleting the images, always take the extra step and re-format the cards.
And the graphic proof of this?

Me and the first mate live well under the poverty level. I wish I could afford the printer. But you know how it is sometimes. “If I had the capital to invest I could be saving a lot of money.”
Why in 5 years I could save the cost of printer paper and ink. If some other emergency didn’t arrive first.
