I Heard The Roar

There was a TORNADO WARNING for Rockford, Illinois that expired a few minutes ago. As I was heading to the basement I stuck my head out the door and heard the roar. It kind of sounded like continuous thunder. Scared the hell out of me. And I don’t scare easy. All has passed now – everybody in the family has checked in and we are all fine. I’m still waiting for further reports to see if there was any major damage in the area. There are lots of leaves and a few tree branches down in my neighborhood. Nothing too serious here.

We (the Iowa City Chamber Singers) were supposed to begin our May concert at 3pm, but we had a torndao warning for Johnson County, Iowa, and had to take shelter in the City High basement (along with the entire audience)! Fortunately, no tornadoes touched down in Iowa City, and we were able to proceed with the concert about 45 minutes later, but some people (jokingly) said that if we were going to go through all the trouble of evacuating, they’d at least like SOME evidence of a tornado. I think the sound you heard probably would have changed their minds.
