Cain And Able

Three things I love about a Herman Cain candidacy:

1)  Most importantly, he’s someone who could lead blacks away from the welfare state policies that have been so devastating to black communities, and demonstrate that entrepeneurship and personal responsibility are the universal paths to success, not identity politics, statism, and “community organizing.”

2) He instantly defuses the entire racial case for Barack Obama.  We all remember how virtually any criticism of Obama over the past few years was deemed racist, especially as regards the Tea Party.  And I got pretty tired of hearing how every time Obama sneezed, the wiping of his nose was “historic.”  A Tea Party endorsement of Cain will tie knots in the brains of the Kathy Griffin wing of the left.

3) He’s authentically black in a way that Obama, raised by a white family and surrounded by whites his whole life, can’t claim to be.  That makes him less vulnerable to the usual “Uncle Tom,” “Oreo,” or “not one of us” accusations that seem to arise against any prominent black who opposes the expansion of the welfare state.

Even if Cain doesn’t win the nomination — and he might —  it would be hard to avoid picking him for the Veep slot.  Without the 90%+ loyalty of the black vote, the Democrats cease to be a competitive national party.

UPDATE: On the other hand, this guy makes a compelling case too.

I was very impressed with his interview, and like you I think he has a lock on the VP spot.

Of course (please no yelling) if Palin were to win nomination and or if he were to win nomination and pick Palin for VP, it would be SO ecologically sound (ahem) just take all the McCain Palin stickers from 08 and excise parts with a razor and — optionally — move it around. As (COFF) stewards of Gaia, can we really pass it up?

(Yes, my tongue IS firmly in cheek, and YES I AM running away as we speak.)

Picking Cain as VP just to go after Black votes is what Democrats do. He’s either good enough for the position, or he isn’t. ANY choice of VP should answer only one question: if the President becomes incapacitated, can the VP carry on wth the job?

Which is why Obama’s choice of VP was so transparently foolish. Biden couldn’t be trusted to carry beer to a frat party.

      Kim,
Yes, and no. Look, we’re going to need to be able to tell the truth without the foolish believing cries of “racism” — now, it’s possible that they’ve done that enough that it’s lost its power, but who knows? — and a black vp nominee would immediately provide imunity from that. Besides all that, I DO like what I’ve heard Cain say. At this point in the game, not having done research, he’s the one I like best, though being a grammar priss, I wish he’d use more standard English.

Indeed, if you want a ticket to utterly defuse the “racial” case that Dem’s always resort to…then

I like everything I’ve seen and heard about Cain. I may support him as candidate once I see more of him.

The Dems will try and do exactly the same to Cain as they did to Clarence Thomas. If Martin Luther King’s son ran as a conservative the DNC and their stooges would have no problem calling MLK’s son an Uncle Tom, etc. They would have no shame saying MLK’s son doesn’t understand the struggle of blacks in America.

NO CANDIDATE is immune from the fascist tactics of the DNC apparatus. The NAACP would be given the job of “lynching” any black GOP candidate. No GOP candidate is black enough or authentic enough to preclude the usual racist DNC tactics.

I think the search for a GOP candidate that can’t be the target of the usual tactics is how the GOP keeps picking losers. It’s a matter of being on defense. Recognize there is no winning strategy based on defense. If you aren’t on offense against the commie-libs you are losing. The commie-libs are always working, like rust, to exploit weakness.
