Captured By Little Oil

Commenter Schwimmer at my post Democrats Strike Out had this to say:

And so it begins. The party which has controlled the White House for the past 8 years and which has controlled Congress for the past 12 of 14 years is now the party of new ideas. The Democrats are rightfully trying to pursue an energy policy that will bring immediate relief as well as long-term solutions. They are doing so in a measured, thoughtful manner. The GOP is only trying for a last-minute land grab for Big Oil, prior to November when they will go into political irrelevance for the next decade or so.

Well Schwimmer it looks like the Democrats have been captured by little oil.
See you in November.

So being in power for a certain amount of time is a bar to having new ideas?
    Since when?

Whenever someone talks about “controlling” congress (or SCOTUS) on the basis of a slim majority, ignore everything they say after. They have oversimplified the political process to a point at which little understanding is possible. Either that, or they make the point as a dishonest rhetorical device. I don’t know which is worse.
“Big Oil” should be subject to the same limitations in discussion. I’m pretty sure they don’t mean Gazprom or Brazil.

The Democrats haven’t tried to persue anything! They never have! That’s the reason for their 9% approval rating. They have come up with no solutions, none.
Inflating air into our tires is not a solution to our energy policy. It’s pathetic that they would even try it.

So doing nothing is now a policy? Lucky Dems.
