When I heard Obama say, ?I?m here to tell the truth,? I immediately thought of Harry Turtledove?s alternate history series based on the premise that the South won the Civil War. Jake Featherston was the sergeant turned President of the Confederacy, modeled on Adolf Hitler, who began each radio broadcast with the following:
“I’m Jake Featherston, and I’m here to tell you the truth.”
Doesn?t make me feel any more comfortable, or trusting of Obama, for what it?s worth.
