Driving away rumors

During the usual course of things, August is one of those months in which not much happens. (Last year was decidedly different, because of the frenzy over the upcoming election.) However via InstaPundit (Michael Totten, guest blogging), I did find an interesting new Iraqi blog, where I found this post explaining a mystery I posted about in June of the girl allegedly turned into a dog for disrespecting the Koran.
As it turns out, the rumors were triggered by this Italian sculpture of a monstrosity which looks like a cross between a dog and a girl.

I have to say I am relieved.
I was starting to worry about Coco:

Girls that young really shouldn’t be driving. . .

A dog driving a car. A dog turning into a girl, or a girl turning into a dog. Looks likes somebody’s trying to prove the evolution theory. Well, I must say that looks a lot better than all those ape-man pictures the evolutionists keep throwing up in our faces. I’ll stick to creation myths.

    (ahem)
I don’t give a clap-ridden fuck what anybody says: that is not “sculpture”. If that’s what we’re going to call it, then someone owes Michelangelo a profound apology.
Man, the horseshit is so rampant now that it’s just about completely seamless from the top of the day to the very livin’ end.
    Christ on a banana-peel, already.

Well, it is a thing of some sort. A thing of great ugliness. (I probably should have put the word “sculpture” in quotes, but I’m not as fastidious as I should be.)

Excellent. Your style! I completely agree. Pardon my use of an economic analogy but: The definition of “art” (including “music” — “crap” without the “c” is still crap) today hss become as completely debased as was the German currency was in the infamous “wheelbarrow inflation”* of the Weimar Republic.
(*referring to the episode in which Germans had to load their money into wheelbarrows to buy a loaf of bread.)

That looks like a wax statue of a Janara. A Neapolitan mythical creature, female counterpart to a werewolf. Half woman, half rat.

Looks like the “artist” borrowed the idea from Italian folklore.
