1010101010

I didn't know it before, but thanks to Glenn I realized that today is 10/10/10.

And right now it's 10:10 p.m.

So I better get this post up quick before I turn into a pumpkin!

AFTERTHOUGHT: It came and went pretty fast. I don't think I'll ever live to see another 1010101010.

And I just wasn't quite fast enough to get the post published at 10:10 p.m. and10 seconds (10:10:10 p.m.) Give me a break, OK?

It occurred to me that next year there will be another chance for those who are into numerical repetition. Assuming the planet lasts that long, and that we survive, most of us who are here now will live to see 11/11/11. And the following year there will be a 12/12/12. But there won't be a 13/13/13, nor will there be a 14/14/14 -- so my advice is to enjoy the few remaining numerically repetitive dates of this century while you still can.

Do you count dates like 2/22/22?
We'd have repetitive dates every decade for the rest of the century.

This decade certainly had the most I've ever seen.

The Giants QB is number 10, he was 10 for 10 at one point. And won the game. He threw the tenth pass in the 101010th second of the day (I may have made that up).

Makes you think.

Well, if we're going to count 2/22/22, then we also ought to count 2/20/2020, because it has more repetition.

And what about palindromic years? Aren't we going to have some which are the same forward as backward? The year you cited is a palindrome, and 1/11/11 will be too (as long as the zero isn't counted). However, 01/01/01 was sexier, even though it can't count as a palindrome.

BTW, "God I'm alive, yo boy, evil am I dog" is the longest palindrome I've written, although I later expanded it to

"GOD I'M A LIVE AVID DIVA, EVIL AM I DOG"

These days, there's probably palindrome generating software.
