Heroin Has Been Destroying America For 100 Years
A newspaper report out of Connecticut paints a dire picture of heroin use in America. The destruction of the country by these evil drugs is nearly complete. We have zombie Armies roaming the streets whose only motivation is drugs and death. Painter also sees a misconception about heroin addiction, and the hysterical fears of a zombie army of junkies roaming the streets.Well OK. despite the fact that drug use is as bad as it has ever been (no worse than it has ever been?) there are no zombie armies in the streets looking for children to molest. In fact what has the spending on the drug war done about drug use? If heroin use is any guide - zilch. It is a typical government program. It costs a lot of money and accomplishes the opposite of what it pretends to accomplish - make drugs hard to get, increase public safety, protect children (is is easier for kids to get illegal drugs than legal beer). I'm really surprised that more conservatives don't have alternatives. If for no other reason than: Government can't make economies (deep thought, that). It can break them. But according to my conservative friends government is the perfect tool for stamping out vice (harming one's self). I fear my so called conservative friends have bought into progressivism. "Government can.....". I've got news for you: No it can't. Cross Posted at Power and Control posted by Simon on 09.08.10 at 06:07 PM

Watched "High and Low" this morning. (Kurosawa, 1963.) The heroin scenes were strongly reminiscent of the what I remember from "The Living Dead." Mebbe the Zombie movement is more than a simple metaphor for our kids? OregonGuy · September 9, 2010 11:19 AM OG, You do understand the difference between movies and reality don't you? You might want to look at the science: http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/library/studies/cu/cumenu.htm M. Simon · September 9, 2010 07:37 PM I wish I could find it online, but years ago an educational film was made showing a heroin addict writhing in the most pitiful state of agonized withdrawal. Then a doctor comes in and gives him a shot of morphine. The almost instant transformation is miraculous, but does the guy get high and nod off? No, he gets out of bed, bathes himself, shaves, puts on clean clothes and then sits down for a pleasant and articulate chat with the interviewer. If you go to a methadone clinic in the early hours of the morning, sure, you will see derelict types, but you will also see middle-class looking people standing in line to get their dose before going to work. Now, I grant that if you or any other non-addicted person were to take their meds, you would most likely resemble a zombie for a few hours (assuming it wasn't a fatal overdose), but junkies are not zombies. Being a junkie means organizing your life around the fix, and it can be hard work. W.S. Burroughs · September 10, 2010 11:46 AM Bill, Good to have you around. Seen Dr. Benway lately? M.
