Merry Fn Christmas Prohibitionists

In New York State where medical cannabis is nominally legal, eight year old Donella Nocera of Niagra Falls died while awaiting access to medical cannabis.

Statement by Nate Nocera, father of Donella: “More than five months after Governor Cuomo signed a bill into law that was meant to bring vital treatment to our family, my daughter Donella is dead. Governor Cuomo, I know you cannot turn back time to get us the medical marijuana that could have slowed the aggressive growth of the tumor in her brain. I know you cannot give us back the days, turned into weeks, turned into months that we lost Donella to a narcotic-induced sleep. But you have the power to end the needless suffering of so many New York families, and I urge you to use it. In the name of my little girl and at least two other children who have died waiting for medical marijuana, I urge you to take action. When you gather with your loved ones this holiday season, I ask that you keep my family in your heart as we suffer the loss of our dearest Donnie.”

Christians Oppose Healing The Sick On Moral Grounds

Cannabis cures cancer. Cancer kills 586,000 Americans every year. Every Prohibitionist is complicit in mass murder.

Please pass this on to your Prohibitionist “friends”.

But Simon don’t you understand that when people use cannabis it makes baby Jesus cry? It evidently doesn’t make the adult Jesus none too happy either. Why do you want to make baby Jesus cry and the adult Jesus mad?

OTOH, no-knock raids makes both baby Jesus and adult Jesus smile. The Father and the Holy Ghost approve as well.

Peace on Earth. Good will to Men. Unless Christians think you a sinner, then all bets are off.

    Randy,

I posted something similar to a place prohibitionists frequent (it was the impetus for this post). And mostly the comments so far have been snide.

No. “How sad for Christmas”. Definitely no “Something must be done”.

How do these people live with themselves?

I’m starting to get an inkling of how Nazi Germany worked. Casual indifference. “The Banality of Evil” was not an error. Some of it is mustache twirling bad intent. But most of it is pure indifference.

And when it all comes out “evil Prohibitionists” their claim will be: “I wasn’t one of them.” Or “I didn’t know.” Or “I was deceived.” The most forgivable for me will be the bastards who will say “It paid well.” Because at least they had the courage to be evil by intent.

    Simon,

The problem for many believers is they have a moral superiority complex. It goes something like this:

God is the law-giver. God is always right. As a faithful follower of God, my morality is correct because my morality comes from God. Furthermore, my morality is correct because God wouldn’t allow me to embrace and espouse an immoral position. And lastly, because my morality is derived from God the law-giver, I always have the moral high ground as God’s morality can’t be wrong.

Here’s how this relates to drugs:

For many Christian denominations, altering one’s mood has been considered a sin for centuries now. If it wasn’t a sin, God would have told them otherwise by now. But because he hasn’t done so, the view that altering your mood is sinful is the God-approved truth. To argue that it isn’t a sin is to argue against God. And that’s just crazy talk as God is always right.

They are caught in their own circular reasoning loop. And because they are certain their views are divinely informed, it’s difficult to get them to reconsider their beliefs on various issues.

While most believers do a fairly decent job of living within the boundaries they think God has set, they typically aren’t very good moral thinkers. The reason for this is that for the believer, morality is a list of God-approved rules and no other considerations apply. Anything that differs from these God-approved rules is, by definition, immoral and therefore not worthy of reconsideration.

What is most ironic is that these believers will do more to destroy their religions than Satan could ever do with evil intent.

They have given up their loving hearts for a set of rules.

It is the classic “I was following orders” with the kicker “from on high”.

When it comes out in the wash “from on high” will prove to be the devil.

And the original sin? Faith above reason. Above love.

    A hard rain’s gonna fall.

Simon, I don’t know what you’re on about. He doesn’t seem very impressive to me.

I have little patience anymore for arguing against non sequiturs .
