A Little Misinformation

There are a lot of stories out there that an investigator in the Trayvon Martin death wanted Zimmerman charged.

The lead homicide detective probing the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin wanted the Florida neighborhood watch volunteer slapped with manslaughter charges from the get-go.

Investigator Chris Serino, of the Sanford Police Department, expressed doubt in George Zimmerman’s account of how the shooting went down, ABC News reported Tuesday.

Well isn’t that interesting. But it is not true.

Here is a more recent report from The Orlando Sentinal (OS).

Two weeks ago, during an exclusive interview with the Sentinel, Lee disclosed certain details of the investigation and during that session, attended by Serino and others, Serino said his investigation turned up no reliable evidence that cast doubt on Zimmerman’s account – that he had acted in self-defense.

“The best evidence we have is the testimony of George Zimmerman, and he says the decedent was the primary aggressor in the whole event,” Serino told the Sentinel March 16. “Everything I have is adding up to what he says.”

We get some hints about who might be behind the lies in another paragraph of the OS report.

In his letter Monday to Roy Austin, deputy assistant attorney general in the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, Crump wrote, “We look forward to your thorough and comprehensive review of the suspicious circumstances surrounding this meeting, and the decision to disregard the recommendation of the lead homicide investigator, Mr. Serino, who felt compelled to prepare an affidavit memorializing his recommendation to arrest the shooter George Zimmerman.”

Crump is the attorney for the Martins.

I’d like to see a copy of the apocryphal affidavit. No such document is in the public domain. And with Serino confirming Zimmerman’s story I doubt that such a document exists. And if you do a Google search on “Serino Zimmerman” you will see that there are very few doubters of the “affidavit” story.

How did our media get so totally bad? It is a rhetorical question.

Click Orlando has this:

Wolfinger said he was “outraged by the outright lies contained in the letter…” and he, “encourages the Justice Department to investigate and document that no such meeting or communication occurred.”

“I have been encouraging those spreading the irresponsible rhetoric to stop and allow State Attorney Angela Corey to complete her work,” Wolfinger said. “Another falsehood distributed to the media does nothing to forward that process.”

That would be the process of justice. But that may not be exactly what those spreading the lies intend.

Here is the complete text of the Wolfinger letter. Emph added.

State Attorney Norm Wolfinger Statement on Letter to Department of Justice

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE–April 2, 2011

I am outraged by the outright lies contained in the letter by Benjamin Crump to Deputy Assistant Attorney General Roy Austin dated April 2, 2012. I encourage the Justice Department to investigate and document that no such meeting or communication occurred. I have been encouraging those spreading the irresponsible rhetoric to stop and allow State Attorney Angela Corey to complete her work. Another falsehood distributed to the media does nothing to forward that process.

It is my personal opinion that after it is all over Crump will no longer be a member of the bar. He has entered Mike Nifong territory.

The media made it appear that Zimmerman was not injured, even though police records would confirm that he was treated for his injuries, and neighbors saw him with bandages. This is looking more and more like a setup. They knew there was not a good legal case, so they lied to build a hysteria-fueled case in the media, knowing all the while that when it did unravel, they could blame the legal system and then bootstrap a bad case into an all out assault on self defense.

So, a number of questions arise.

Crump stuck his neck out with a lie. Is he just a hot-dogging ambulance-chaser frat boy who’s never come up against the ill consequences of his risky behavior?

Or is he taking this risk with the expectation of a reward? If so, who’s paying him, and what are they paying him to do?

Or maybe he took the risk with the expectation that there’s no real risk. In which case, who is covering for him?

Since there’s clearly larger forces at play, why did they set this up at all? Was it a target of opportunity to rally the black vote? Or was it part of a long-term attack on the right to self-defense? Why dissipate their effort on such a long-term effort, when the main prize is only seven months away?

Wheels within wheels. It’s so difficult to keep straight, but so important to understand. We’re approaching the inflection point this summer.

There’s Truth and then there’s Revolutionary Truth. How many more episodes of ‘just making stuff up’ must there be before people stop being surprised when they just make stuff up?

Conservative radio is almost nothing but analysis of just how far the commie-lib media has strayed from facts. Not only will conservatives not fight, they won’t even avoid letting their enemies set the agenda.

If the commei-libs claimed the TEA Partiers were red-headed Martian giraffes, the whole right side of the country would busily occupy itself documenting the 809 ways they are not red-headed Martian giraffes. Meanwhile the agenda is one set by the Left.
