Double White House slut standard

Laura Ingraham is waiting for Obama:

Ed Schultz called me a slut last May…still waiting for Obama’s call.

Apparently, the president only cares about women being called sluts when lefty activists are called sluts by right wing commentators. If the roles are reversed, then it’s just fine.

How very presidential of him.

Such gravitas.

MORE: Speaking of matters appropriate for presidential concern, here’s Obama super donor Bill Maher:

Maher has called Palin a “dumb twat” and dropped the C-word in describing the former Alaska governor. He called Palin and Congresswoman Bachmann “boobs” and “two bimbos.” He said of the former vice-presidential candidate, “She is not a mean girl. She is a crazy girl with mean ideas.” He recently made a joke about Rick Santorum’s wife using a vibrator. Imagine now the same joke during the 2008 primary with Michelle Obama’s name in it, and tell me that he would still have a job.

AFTERTHOUGHT: After considering that Rush Limbaugh’s “victim” is a 30-year-old career left wing activist who was already on the fast track toward telling-people-what-to-do job before the “slut” flap, I find myself wondering whether Limbaugh did her a rather substantial economic favor by calling her a slut.

Seriously, right now, she’s basking in fame, the president has called her, she’s gone out of her way to plug Media Matters, and she can write her own ticket.

What I’d like to know is this. How much would she have made had Rush not been dumb enough to charge at her red flag — as opposed to how much she will make now?

I hate repeating myself, but I think it needs to be remembered that a whore is not a slut.

MORE:  Reason‘s Ira Stoll does a great job of explaining why the slut business is a red herring:

There are a lot of questions here that go right to the heart of ObamaCare. Why is the president getting involved in setting prices for prescription drugs in the first place? Where in the Constitution does he get that power? Why should people past reproductive age who are paying copayments for their heart or arthritis medication be paying taxes to subsidize free prescription contraceptives for law students?

No wonder a lot of people would prefer, instead, to discuss Rush Limbaugh’s word choices.

By all means, let’s turn this into a debate over sex! The little people in flyover country will never notice…

Calling her a media whore would have been entirely appropriate.

Dems serve up juicy campaign issue, Repubs end up screwing the pooch and losing a golden political opportunity.

In other news, dog bites man.

The problem is that Rush-bo did not just leave it alone with calling her a name just once—he had to go on for days, ever increasing his inflammatory comments, and ultimately leading to what many consider a perverted wish to see videos of her and others who received ‘free’ contraceptives having sex.

One more thing. While Rush deserves criticism here, the outrage from Demos is manufactured. While Limbaugh’s comments were ill-advised, it’s clear he was engaging in hyperbole here.

The problem is that the Left and the media operate under double standards, with different standards for the Left vs. the Right. What I’ve witnessed for years is that, per the MSM, Demo hyperbole is OK and to be taken with a grain of sale, while Repub hyperbole isn’t hyperbole at all and always crosses the line. This is why the MSM has lost so much credibility the past few decades.

“I find myself wondering whether Limbaugh did her a rather substantial economic favor by calling her a slut.”

Absolutely. A law degree by itself is a relatively trivial patent of nobility but a nationally viewed joust with a black knight (even if lost)is priceless.

How hard is it to accept that something is wrong?

I suppose calling people sluts is a classical value

Eric didn’t say a thing about whether or not it was wrong; he certainly implied that if it was wrong for Limbaugh, it was wrong for Schultz and Maher, too, yet the folks who pretend that they care about what Limbaugh said never said word one about the similar comments from Shultz and Maher.

If the difference isn’t that Limbaugh is on the right talking about a woman on the left, while Schultz and Maher are on the left talking about women on the right, what is it?
