No valid medical uses as a standard? If we banned everything that has no medical use, just imagine the damage to the economy!
In the “Run From The Cure” video, it’s stated that drug companies aren’t interested in developing drugs from marijuana because it’s a plant and cannot be patented and therefore would not be profitable.
This is false.
There are many patented and very profitable plant based drugs. Taxol is one example.
I’d love to see the war on drugs end. I also think marijuana probably has several medical uses. But it is not a cure-all as those videos suggest.
Yes, the laws need to be changed to make it easier for research to be done. Resorting to promoting cure-all quackery won’t accomplish that.

The idea is right. It is inartfully stated.
It costs about $100 million to $300 million to get a new drug through trials. This is too much for a plant that can’t be patented.
It used to cost only $10 million (rough figure) when all the company had to prove was safety.
Now a company has to prove safety AND efficacy. That is why it costs so much more.
The “ethical” drug cartel at work. Or if you prefer: regulatory capture.

Medical Uses Of Marijuana
Why you ask? The whole body is full of CB1 and CB2 receptors.
BTW Taxol is not a plant. Originally it was a plant extract. Very purified.
Later it was synthesized because there were not enough plants to meet market demand.
In any case the only legal THC on the market is Drabinol (or some such) and it is totally synthesized and very expensive. And you can’t judge exactly how much to take because it is a pill. And very psychoactive.
Medical users generally prefer the smoke or a vaporizer because you can stop before you get debilitated by the high.
And of course it is hard to do research in the US. Most of it is done in Europe and Israel. The DEA prefers “no medical use” and it would put holes in that if it allowed research into that.

It also appears that there is a synergy between the various CBDs in pot. So a purified extract may not give the desired results.
