I’ve been scratching my head over how to interpret some of the poll results at Real Clear Politics.
President Obama Job Approval
RCP Average
Approve
60.0
Disapprove
33.0
But consider this poll, which reveals a majority of Americans think the country is headed in the wrong direction:
Direction of Country
RCP Average
Right Direction
42.2
Wrong Track
51.6
Unless the above numbers are seriously wrong, what this means is that a fairly sizable percentage of those who approve of the job President Obama is doing also think the country is on the wrong track.
What’s up with that? Do they think it’s good to be headed in the wrong direction for a change?

Behold the power of race in modern American society.
Human preferences are not transitive.
In math, if A is bigger than B, and B is bigger than C; then it follows that A is bigger than C. Not so with human preferences. Humans can prefer A over B, and B over C; yet still prefer C more than A. This is the reason that all polling data is useless for anything other than editorializing.
To me, the poll means America thinks Obama is doing a good job at the bully pulpit, but the country (including Congress, State and local officials) are screwing up. The former poll measures perception about Obama’s performance (and given the major media’s cheerleading, it’s no surprise); the latter is a perception as to how things are going in their local community.
It’s why polls like this are meaningless.
Explanation? 51.6% are sick of Saint Barry and think that he’s doing a terrible job. 33.0% are willing to admit it. 18.6% are afraid of being labelled “racist” for speaking what they think.
Explanation? Polls are bunk, as is all research carried out with political outcomes in mind.
I blame it on Minitru.
If they don’t report stuff, people don’t know it.
I despair reading Instapundit, Hot Air and Ace anymore, it’s story after story about firing inconvenient Attorneys General, changing the rules because “We won”, giving my money to murderous dictators like Mugabe and Hamas….etc., etc., etc. ad inifitum et ad nauseum.
But……
Most of America doesn’t see that stuff. They didn’t know that Obama invited the Mad Mullahs to a 4th of July bash until he “rescinded” the invitation (not really, they just didn’t RSVP so he’s assuming they won’t show up.)
His aides say he had a half hour meeting on Iran on Sunday and then, went golfing and out for ice cream and the media didn’t freak out.
All the things that Bush did and had the NYTimesWashPostCNNABCCBSNBCetc. freaking out get a yawn out of them when Obama does it.
Minitru’s job isn’t just changing inconvenient facts, it’s ignoring them as well.
Part of what makes this the Funniest End of Civilization Ever is that it’s suicide this time.
Yesterday Obama’s spokestool said, “White House officials suggest the president’s rhetoric shouldn’t be taken literally:”
And the press just let him say it.
Most Americans still, deep down, trust Minitru so when Minitru freaks out, they freak out. When Minitru yawns, they yawn.
That’s why he can have a press conference and nobody asks a question about the poofy haired maniac in NoKo and cutting missile defense.
Take my advice, get something that’s the peak of western civilization so, when you’re in your cave, burning your books for warmth, you’ll be able to say, “Well, at least I owned a…”
