It seems that when Obama made a refreshment stop on the campaign trail he didn’t have time to wait for the restaurant to prepare his food and Biden couldn’t wait to get to the bar.
Obama then joined Joe Biden, who had made directly for the bar when the two candidates arrived, at a table celebrating another birthday.
“He’s eating our appetizers,” said Luanne Gearhart, who had stepped away from the table for a few minutes only to find Obama in her seat. “But God’s made it this way.”
Luanne was most gracious. Good on her.

Life imitates art–that was a Saturday Night Live sketch back in the Clinton Era (I can’t remember if it was during his campaign or after his election). Bill walked into a McDonald’s to shake hands and helped himself to everyone’s lunch.
I would be encouraged to hear that the campaign quietly picked up the table’s bill, but I don’t think I will hold it against them if I heard that they didn’t.
On the other hand, as hard as the campaign is hitting against the American Issues Project for their ad… maybe they should be investigated for this being an unreported in-kind contribution.
I hope the Time photographer had a heaping helping of ironic detachment when he took that picture, lest he be accused of stereotyping. Taking a picture of a black man eating fried chicken? For shame! Check that photographer’s credentials to make sure he’s a GOP hack! No sane Democrat could take such a crude and bigoted phot!
Post-racial candidate my backside. He put another nail in that already-welded shut coffin with his “he doesn’t look like those other Presidents” line of his.
I read the article and it’s funny but not a big deal. It could have been written to look really endearing if the writer wanted to go that route. As it is, there was wnough fawning from everyone else. (87 year old mother wants to see another Democrat in the White House before she dies, as if we didn’t just have one the last cycle!)

There are about 3 videos for that 8/31/08 and you will here the waiter say there “froglegs”. Even if you view the picture again you can see that it’s not chicken.
I realize that qoutes and stories get turn and twisted around and the media only want’s us to see or read what they want us too. So, I understand now, that you were only going by what you read.
OK he was eating his dinner after taking some one else’s appetizers.

I’m glad you visited the site and got more of the story.
They walked in and we had a empty seat at the table and on making the rounds of meeting and greeting everyone Joe asks us what we were having. We OFFERED the items to them. Regardless of their “status” I’m sure if some IMPORTANT or FAMOUS person walked into an Establishment you were eating in YOU WOULD MOST LIKELY DO THE SAME THING!!!

BTW when I was 13 I got to shake ex-President Truman’s hand in a club car where he was on the way to Independence. I think I wrote it up some where if you want to search for it. It would have been around 1957. Of course I was a Democrat back then. Like my parents.
