In a post about Arianna Huffington, Dr. Helen shares a wonderful tidbit of wisdom:
A couple of commenters have claimed that I do not allow dissenting views or that I am equally as intolerant to dissenting views as Huffington is. Huh? You are posting your opinion here freely on my blog and then accusing me of being intolerant of other points of view? That makes no sense.
Well, it makes a lot of sense if you think disagreeing with someone’s opinion constitutes “intolerance.”
Of course, under the logic of the above rule, those with dissenting views are themselves intolerant of whatever it is from which they dissent.
But let’s not let logic get in the way of understanding!

By making fun of them, by choosing to be confrontational, you have already bought into the white/male/hierarchichal/hetero/pitbullloving/patriarchy.
So yes, you ARE intolerant. As are Huffington and Helen. I’m not trying to CORRECT you when I inform you of this, as that would imply you are wrong, another patriarchical concept. Rather, I saw a window for a moment of mutual learning, a chance for a teaching moment during which I will learn as much from you, if not more, than you will learn from me.
I’ve always felt it’s better to raise more questions than field answers. Therefore you’re not dissenting, just challenging.
Is that so?
I sense a power imbalance involving a mutually contexted patriarchal exegesis.
Several things come to mind
Tolerance is not always a good thing, just as “profiling”, or “cencorship” are not always bad.
also, another’s implication that because one is white and patriarchal that one can’t be tolerant is, well, intolerant.
