CapitalistRoader and I were having a nice friendly discussion about “caucus vote stealing” in Colorado at Good Bye GOP. He asked how Trump supporters joining with Kasich supporters in Michigan to sweep the caucus votes was any different than what happened in Colorado.
I had a reply:
In Michigan were Cruz delegates sent home? Or were they out voted.
I think it makes a difference.

I also went in to a longer rant about consent of the governed:
Voters should choose the candidates. Primaries. Party bosses choosing the candidates makes it cheaper to buy elections. Elections have the further advantage in that they give the appearance of “consent of the governed”.
I was 16 when Kennedy got elected. I remember listening to election returns on WGN and hearing about missing ballot boxes in Chicago. They turned up an hour or two later. Kennedy won that election. Nixon didn’t complain. He could have.
I remember he was generally thanked for not airing America’s dirty laundry. I think it is past time to air the dirty laundry.
Consent of the governed has considerable value. It prevents mobs in the streets.
In an era when any idiot can start a “newspaper” for the price of an Internet connection the oligarchs are going to have to do a better job of hiding their backroom deals. Or start making them in the open.
Honest crooks. That would be a welcome change.
Pick your owners. Because we are ALL enslaved to the National debt.

Local talk radio interview with Steve House, CO GOP Chairman.
The second part podcast of Mandy’s show isn’t up yet but I listened to it in real time. The conclusion she comes to after hearing from delegates is that Trump got his ass kicked because he had zero ground game. Cruz has had 50-100 volunteers working in CO since January whereas Trump had maybe one. I don’t know if that conclusion is right and frankly I don’t care. I’m not a Republican.
Now, someone can say that CO’s caucus process is stupid and unfair and I wouldn’t disagree. But it’s reality.
I’ll vote for whatever GOP candidate who’s the nominee because Supreme Court picks. Full stop.
But I can just imagine Trump on November 9th complaining that Hillary stole the election because she’s a liar/she used gestapo tactics/crooked shenanigans/scorched earth…pick the most convenient excuse ‘Cause that’s the kind of guy he’s turning out to be.

The Colorado Republican Party’s decision last summer to jettison a presidential poll at its caucus on Tuesday looks worse with every passing day.
Except for the actual delegates to July’s national convention, Colorado Republicans who want to have a say in the future of their party have mostly been stripped of a role in the most interesting and surprising nominating struggle in decades.
Meanwhile, local airwaves have been featuring ads on behalf of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, since the Democrats are still holding a traditional caucus at which participants get to signal their support for a candidate. It’s known as democracy. The Colorado Republican executive committee needs to reacquaint itself with the concept.
GOP leaders have never provided a satisfactory reason for forgoing a presidential preference poll, although party chairman Steve House suggested on radio at one point that too many Republicans would otherwise flock to their local caucus.
Imagine that: party officials fearing that an interesting race might propel thousands of additional citizens to participate. But of course that might dilute the influence of elites and insiders. You can see why that could upset the faint-hearted.
I give you the perfect example of the importance of Supreme Court picks:
John Roberts.
My theory is the powers want an insurrection to destroy the country.
So do you think we would have gotten more libertarian decisions out of John Kerry’s pic?
CR,
Well. Sotomeyer hasn’t been totally bad. In theory the R legislature is supposed to be a check on the D president. So far they haven’t checked much.
Some people think the fix is in.
We are just livestock to our owners.
I’m inclined to agree.
Will Trump be any different? Unlikely.
Will the rest of them be any different? Impossible.
Here is a guy who explains in detail how the fix was done:
