Too Conservative For Colorado

The Democrats in Colorado are running ads (for? against?) Tom Tancredo claiming he is too conservative for Colorado.

Democrats really don’t want former Rep. Bob Beauprez to win this month’s Colorado GOP gubernatorial primary, so they’re hitting the airwaves with television ads aimed at boosting his nearest rival, former Rep. Tom Tancredo.

Protect Colorado Values, a Democrat-backed 527 committee, released a reverse-psychology ad Thursday in the Denver media market that declares Mr. Tancredo is “too conservative for Colorado” because he’s “still one of the country’s strongest opponents of Obamacare.”

Tom was a leader in the effort to legalize cannabis in Colorado. That would put him in the libertarian wing of the party. Funny that the Democrats would feel he was the easiest to beat in the general election. Unless they plan to “out” his libertarian leanings in order to suppress the Republican vote. Ironic that leaving people alone (the general theme of the libertarians) would annoy the rank and file of the “smaller government” party.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, er, I mean, the GOP runoff, Cochran is hoping that he can get Demos to vote for him in a GOP primary. Just goes to show that the GOP Establishment finds Demos to be more in line with their views than the Tea Party types.

At least in Colorado, the Demos carry their own water.

A shadow Dem group that no one has heard of is stumping for the front-runner because he is more beatable or the second place guy who is saying the shadow group is Democrats stumping for the front-runner is hoping to make them both look bad. Which is more likely?

    Jay,

Just thinking about it hurts my head.

Tancredo libertarian? The only way you can consider a closed-borders conservative to be a limited-government libertarian is if the illegal aliens are government agents.

I’m all for open borders. Once we eliminate the welfare state.

Maybe Tancredo is that kind of libertarian.

Milton Friedman said that you can have open borders or you can have the welfare state, but you cannot have both.
