Not anti-gun, just pro-tyranny

Saying “I TOLD YOU SO!” is not a very emotionally rewarding experience for me.

But a Reason piece confirmed one of my longstanding peeves.

“Psycho Door-Kicking Cop Embodies Strong Argument Against Gun Registration”

Gun rights circles are buzzing over Facebook gloating by a Branford, Connecticut, police officer over the power the state’s new gun (and magazine) registration law gives him to kick in doors and snatch firearms. The comments seem to have earned Officer Joseph Peterson a little time out of the office. They also wonderfully illustrate the dangers of letting politicians turn every bugaboo and pet peeve into an excuse for officials great and small to use their power against citizens. Because even if some restrictive laws are good ideas (and most are not), they’ll inevitably be enforced by people who will abuse their authority.

Most arguments against government policies turn on their moral and practical failings, assuming that they’re implemented with unified intentions, good or bad. Arguments against gun laws generally hinge on the disempowerment of individuals relative to the state. But laws are enforced by individuals with varying competence and agendas that may have nothing to do with the bigger picture. In the case of the Branford, Connecticut, Police Department‘s Officer Joseph Peterson, the law apparently represents an opportunity to wield a raging hard-on for power and to lord it over the little people.

I’ll say.

Anyone who thinks the gun grabbers are anti-gun is a fool. They’re not against guns at all. They might want people to think they are “anti-gun,” but that’s nonsense. What they actually think is that only their side should be allowed to have guns. That way, they can use them to take away everyone else’s guns and rule.

It’s such an old and discredited tactic that I can’t believe so many people are willing to fall for it.

Except they do.

I have said this before gun laws are aimed at intercity minorities! Did you complain when your god bonzo reagan signed california gun law to stop the black panther party from carrying guns in their cars to protect the black community from the police ? The sullivan gun law in new york the first gun law was aimed at black returning veterans. Government doesn’t care about ignorant southern white trash in skunk creek mississippi owning guns! They do care about minorities with guns and the white trash arrests are window dressing to fool the gullible!

If I were a resident of Branford, I would write a letter to the Police Chief and the City Manager referencing the Officer’s posting, and question whether or not that Officer was either properly trained, or worse, engaged in training new officers.

One letter could be enough to torpedo this arrogant idiot’s career. City Managers do not like to see idiots promoted.

I used to work in Branford. some of my coworkers had run ins with Officer Peterson. He liked to hang around near my office and write people up for minor traffic infractions. Think of barney Frank, but better looking and more than a bit of tyrant. He’s typical of a lot of CT small town cops.
