“Maternity” coverage???

A lot of men — and older women — argue that it doesn’t apply to them, so why should they have to have coverage for it?

Um, is there such a thing as paternity coverage?

If not, why not?

Can anyone enlighten me please? I am honestly trying not to be sexist.

How can there be maternity without paternity?

So what is going on? Is it not sexist to cover one without the other?

I’m still trying to figure out why I’m now expected to pay higher premiums for coverage that only benefits straight chicks who don’t know how to keep their legs together and say “no.”

Several years ago I contracted through Blue Cross Blue Shield for health insurance coverage for the employees of my small business. At the time we payed varying amounts between $100 and $400 a month depending on various risk factors. About 2 years in we hired a young lady to do various office tasks. When I inquired about adding her to the policy I was told that since she was of child baring age that we would be adding maternity to the coverage. Not only did her coverage start at around $650, all 12 of the other employees on the policy saw at $100 to $200 jump in cost. OUCH. My attorney explained that letter her go at that point would be problematic.

The no joke answer to your question is that in the eyes of our masters there are gradations of preferred classes – as a white male you are not on the radar. But, you say, what of the darker hue fathers? They require no coverage, you see, they do not stick around.

The only concern of a paternal nature is the size of his paycheck and how much of it can be attached. And, I’ll suggest that Bernie’s comment above is accurate as well. Were the focus of this discrimination elsewhere the outrage would be inconsolable.

    What a stupid question.

There would be paternity coverage if men needed to visit an OBGYN. These arguments always seem to attack the right wingers’ favorite hated groups (women, the young). as if they don’t know how cross subsidies work (the example they always use will always involve a white male being victimized).

I doubt Eric ever asks why coastal elites have to pay for highways made in flyover (er I mean, “real”) America. Everyone knows real Americans built everything they have on their own.

… the right wingers’ favorite hated groups (women, the young)…
    Thus speaks The AJ.

As yes, you poor little dear. You will be burdened with taxes to support and subsidize us old white guys. But don’t you see the irony of it all? While you advocate taking more from working people, and those who you define as rich, to redistribute to a worthless class of mostly young non-working, uninsured bums through Obamacare, you rail at retired people who have paid into Social Security for a lifetime but are now getting benefits that in your opinion exceed what was withheld. Spare us the self-serving whine. What you are exposing is your own ageist stereotyping.

Social Security, and Medicare for that matter, wouldn’t be in crisis but for the fact that a Democratic controlled congress pilfered the trust fund to pay current expenses. Now that the chickens are coming home to roost, and younger working people are being called upon to make up the earlier theft, you would what, send us out to pasture with a bag of corn and hope we die?

I am so fucking sick of hearing you complain about the supposed injustice you are facing, while you continue to support policies and politicians who have brought us to this point, and who are hellbent on expanding their socialist nightmare.

The Obamacare fiasco is of your making, AJ. This is what cross subsidies look like. Some win, some lose. In the end though, we all lose because we lose our freedom. The most loss is reserved for the medical profession. You and your ilk will have succeeded in chaining and enslaving doctors. Fuck you and all like you who would destroy this man:

And yes AJ, I get your reference to subsidized highways. That is why the purist libertarians support toll roads. In a truly free country there wouldn’t be public highways. To turn it around for you, maybe you would like ALL means of transportation nationalized, starting with the airlines, and ending with publicly owned bicycles. (Oh, that’s right I forgot, you already are on the way to nationalizing bicycles – start small and work up to the airlines is your motto, eh?)

re Bernie. It is a matter of which groups are winning the grievance wars. Group Politics with endless, organized, complaining is perhaps the largest industry in America.

Activism works. when you can convince, intimidate, or bribe the right politicians the government will give you money and make other people obey your wishes.

(I say perhaps the largest industry because looking at little boxes with flashing Icons may be even larger.)

Most of the plans cancelled are junk plans many don’t pay for hospitalization or testing. Most reduce doctor vist co-pays by a small amount as compared to cash payments its like buying a car witout air bags or seat belts as long as yyou don’t get in an accident you don’t need them! Obama should of held out for medicare for all!

I feel your pain al as bubba sez! I know its tough when you can’t refute the truth! Watch the news these whinners have pseudo insurance plan! One woman had insurance that only covered some but not all cancers and only in doctors office with a slightly reduced co-pay and NO hospitalization in the so called insurance and she was upset because she only had to pay 99 dollars a month for this garbage!

    captun,

What you seem to be missing is that Obama care by raising costs will crash the economy. Thus putting a bigger burden on the still working.

Once you make the dole more profitable than production the whole system collapses.

We have welfare states to protect the rich any help the poor get is a by product. This is how bismarck sold it to the kaiser because rich people always lose in class warfare! See:marie antonette former queen of france who lost something dear and near to her! The corperate state can controll the right they cannot controll the left if corperate liberals are discredited and can’t lead the poor and minorities in ways that are not a threat to the corperate state!
