While it doesn’t change my mind about the President or his policies, the brutal threats made by Iranian officials are chilling in their utter depravity:
…in an unprecedented statement, a former Iranian official has warned of mass abductions and brutal killings of American citizens around the world and the rape and killing of one of Obama’s daughters should the United States attack Syria.
Alireza Forghani, the former governor of southern Iran’s Kish Province, threw down the gauntlet last week. Forghani is an analyst and strategy specialist in the supreme leader’s camp and closely aligned with Mehdi Taeb, who heads the regime’s Ammar Strategic Base, a radical think thank, and thus speaks with the blessing of the Islamic regime.
“Hopefully Obama will be pigheaded enough to attack Syria, and then we will see the … loss of U.S. interests [through terrorist attacks],” he threatened. “In just 21 hours [after the attack on Syria], a family member of every U.S. minister [department secretary], U.S. ambassadors, U.S. military commanders around the world will be abducted. And then 18 hours later, videos of their amputation will be spread [around the world].”
Bill Whittle is about as anti-Obama as it is humanly possible to be, and here’s what he said about the above:
I would like to be crystal clear on something. I don’t think there is much confusion left, at this point, about how I feel about Barack Obama personally, or what about how I feel about his performance as President. But when this Iranian official threatens to rape the daughter of the President of the United States of America, he had better be damn well certain that if Barack Obama decided to send nine carrier battle groups to bring his head back on a platter then my President would have my UTMOST SUPPORT for such an action.
The threats are an absolute outrage, and they serve as a reminder of something that has been largely forgotten.
These people are uncivilized.
They are savages.
A point like that matters, even though it has become taboo to make it. Thanks to a twisted form of multiculturalism on steroids, civilized people are now seen as inferior to uncivilized people, and are thus forbidden from pointing out the obvious.

Bomb Iran.
Bomb Iran, take 2.
Well there’s nothing that demonstrates the hallmark of civilization than mobilizing “nine carrier battle groups.” and attacking a country because some “official” mad a personal threat.
These people are uncivilized.
They are savages.
And we will prove it by killing them all! It’s kind of ironic because the whole honor culture (you insulted my wife/daughter/cousin/nephew/, now I will go burn your village down) is something typical of pakistan, (and apparently now the right-wing blogosphere.

It would be nice of those people would settle with pointing it out and then go away instead of feeling the need to assert their superiority with massive amounts of moneys and bombs.
TheAJ:
You are being obtuse. Whittle’s bit of hyperbole didn’t imply attacking the country–it implied attacking the uncivilized schmuck who made the threat.
Civilized people understand the difference.
Neil:
1. 9 carrier groups to defend a man’s honor. I don’t know what his point is other than to prove that America’s dick swings bigger?
2. See comments 1, 2.
3. You must not have ever been an athlete. The garbage coming out of the stands (and this is at the high school level) is almost comical. Field goal kickers have gotten many I suppose. Lebron James has retweeted the ones he’s received. Obama receives on average a few thousand every year. Hell, conservatives got butthurt when the government tried to investigate the huge amount of threats coming from the militia movements.
I suppose in Neil-world civilized men would be out there exacting revenge in the name of defending honor and threats and insults. Oh if only Lebron James were civilized enough to attack his haters instead of trying to win championships instead.
Some of your commentators are suffering from the disease of moral equivalence, that all uses of force have the same moral stance, that the destruction of Nazi Germany was the same as the Nazi death camps.
The reality is that Islam, all of it, is an evil ideology of extreme violence, extreme hatred, and extreme aggression. Its whole history is unmitigated violence. Mohammed himself, the perfect man, was a marauding bandit.
The Muslim Allah is not Yahweh/Jesus, he is Moloch. Muslims practice human sacrifice to their god.
In the run up to the Iraq invasion, Ann Coulter said that we should kill all the Iraqi leaders and impose Christianity on the Iraqi people. Prescient.
There are 1.5 billion Muslims out there, with majorities in 50 and large minorities in another dozen. Whats your course of action?
And how much money would you like to spend? Where do we set off the nukes?
Since the nukes are already paid for, that comes under the heading of “sunk costs”.
Well there you go
TheAJ:
As I said, you are being obtuse.
The 9 carriers are to make the point that personal threats by the leader of a foreign state against the person of the President or his family will be met with force if translated into action.
Your poorly articulated analogy of the Iranian government’s physical threats to trash-talking sports fans is simply incoherent. Perhaps this thinking makes sense wherever you come from–presumably someplace where spectators at high school sporting events shout death threats at the players? Please let me know, so I can make sure never to visit your uncivilized land.
1. I think you are being stupid. One, this person was not a leader of the state, he is not even a current official.
2. No, there is no condition of if the threat is “translated into action.” Read the statement.
3. Whittle’s statement is basically, if you threaten us, we will destroy you and everyone else (that’s what 9 carrier groups are for I suppose) whether or not they condone or support the statement. Again, just to reinforce our big dick swings larger than yours.
Really, you guys kind of prove my point. Search the bottom of the barrel for basically anything that can get everyone on board to obliterate a country. In this example, a threat . . . from literally . . . some guy.

Uh, are you stupid? Google is your friend:

This kind of stuff happens apparently in hippyland of SF to Classicalvalues land of Idaho. And really, did you ever play a sport as a teenager? Or did you grow up in a cave?
